[QUOTE=Farm Truck;17827]I'd like to see in scripture where the Holy Spirit leads us to celebrate Christmas.
    [\QUOTE]

It's in the book of Bing Crosby, Chapter 10 White Christmas, verses 1-20

The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God. For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.

Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God (Romans 14:5-10)

Right...some refuse to celebrate birthdays too, for religious reasons...as if saying happy birthday to someone and saying I am glad you were born is idolatry..

Christmas eh? What does Christmas mean to me?

I celebrate the birth of My Savior, Jesus. Even if it isn't the exact date of His birth, it is a reference point and making note that He came in the flesh as a baby, begotten of the Holy Spirit.
The tree reminds me that My Savior Jesus died on a tree. Although He was bruised and beaten and whipped bloody it was the most beautiful gift ever given to mankind, even more beautiful than the colored lights on the Christmas tree that we enjoy today.

Jesus Christ is the original Christmas Gift! He was sent down by His Father in order to make peace on earth (between God and man), because of His goodwill towards us.

satan can misuse/abuse/turn around anything for his purposes. But I am not a pagan and I am not observing the holiday for pagan purposes. I am celebrating God's gift of grace to all of mankind!

Farm Truck....do you suffer from a fear of being deceived? If so, you should repent!

BTW....I think you've read everyone's responses completely wrong. I don't believe anyone feels "guilty" for having a Christmas tree. On any level. That's quite an arrogant accusation....as if an anonymous dude on the internet trying to lecture others about their own personal lives and decorating choices, has the power to make them feel guilty.

It also may surprise you to know that everyone posting in this thread has heard these arguments probably 12,385 times.

It may also surprise you that I don't have xmas trees in my home. Never have. Too much room taken, too much trouble. But I think when decorated nicely, they are pretty. But they aren't for me.

And, there are no scriptural references showing the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ is leading God's people to partake in pagan rituals.

So, getting all upset claiming I'm "judging" you ... sounds like a guilty dawg barking... it kinda sounds like deep down inside you know the Lord is saying He is not involved in Christmas.

If some people don't celebrate it unto the Lord, it's their right. But don't judge others who do not observe due to Christmas not being of the Lord and due to scripture not directing us to do Christmas.

The Christianization of Pagan holidays began about the fourth century A.D. when the Roman Emperor Constantine, became (or feigned becoming) a Christian. In order to consolidate his rule, he incorporated the Pagan holidays and festivals into the church ritual - attracting the Pagans, but he gave the holidays and festivals new "Christian" names and identities - thus appeasing the Christians. Over the centuries, this practice has continued until the present time where we find the two systems, Paganism and Christianity, almost indistinguishable.

This is the adversary's clever deception - paganism dressed up in Christian clothes! It's still nothing more than paganism, and it's too bad that so many Christian churches have wholeheartedly embraced this deception.

We have a team member who does not celebrate any holidays or birthdays..so when we started our Christmas decorating project I asked to meet with him in private and see how he felt as we are a very close team and I did not want him to feel odd when we hold our meetings and chat about it openly.

He was awesome and appreciated our consideration of his feelings and assured me he would not feel the least bit uncomfortable with our festivities and to feel perfectly ok with excluding him from all relative communications....it is working out really well..we talk freely and do not try to draw him in any way..he respects us and we respect him. It's quite unusual TO see such acceptance and tolerance...
