I see both in scripture.
I see both in scripture.
Paul certainly says that "IF an unbeliever enters" into a service. I am also sure that many were brought into the house gatherings of the early church to hear the gospel. But at the same time, those who were members were being discipled and taught how to do outreach as they went about their daily lives. That seems to be the missing ingredient in many of today's "churches".
Especially in the American church, there is a whole different mentality about what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. There is also a sense of laziness or shyness and folks just want to do what is easiest for them instead of actually obeying the great commission.
Today it is more like; "Go into all the world and invite people to church service" instead of "Go into all the world and preach the gospel". Today it is more like; "Go make pew sitters of all nations" instead of "Make disciples of all nations".
Until we get it right there just won't be any great awakening as would be possible with the church actually doing what God has called her to do.
The second bit is what our leader is trying to teach. That is good.
Trouble is he's not doing the first bit. It's a bit hard to take the Gospel to others when you've never heard it, just hearing that apparently "we can get to know God better" and sin is just "an unhealthy way of living".

Our church used to preach repentance, baptism, baptism in the Holy Ghost and FIRE. Maybe some day we will get back to it.
