What was Paul's thorn in the flesh?

I've heard it was a physical aliment. Any thoughts?

He says what it is. A messenger sent from satan. Look back in chapter 11 and you'll see how it manifested itself. No physical ailment among them.

I guess the eye problem that some preachers have suggested was Paul's thorn is just speculation. The satanic messenger makes more sense. This demon must have been behind the trouble Paul had with the Jews.

I believe it was men used by Satan.

Exactly. Followed him every where he went stirring up individuals and crowds against him along with 'natural' disasters. The eye thing is pure speculation using some out of context scriptures from other books of the NT. Just go by what it says and in context. A messenger of satan, and read back in 11 and it all makes sense. Paul was 'buffeted' everywhere he went by the messenger of satan. As a matter of fact, in the list in chapter 11, sickness is conspicuous by its absence.

The Greek word translated messenger is angelos which is normally translated angel except in a few places where it definitely refers to human beings. The meaning is clear, it is not mysterious. Satan assigned one of his angels to keep harassing Paul.

Interesting! So this was no common small fry demon, but one of satans high ranking fallen angels? No wonder Paul had so many attacks and persecutions on his missions trips. This evil angelic being must have stirred up the crowds where Paul was ministering. Thanks for the insight.

I wonder if the satanic messenger attacking Paul was the MSM as Jesus warned about the Press (KJV VERSION)
