    Hebrews 8

4 Now if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since there are already priests to offer gifts according to the Law. 5 They serve at a copy and shadow of the heavenly sanctuary. That is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle, “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.” 6 Now, however, Jesus has received a far superior ministry, just as the covenant He mediates is superior and is founded on better promises.…

The tabernacle was more than a shadow....it was a Pattern of the Heavenly...so were given to relate to what existed FIRST...

Jesus fulfilled the OT shadow, not just to fulfill IT but to fulfill the HEAVENLY requirement.....He was returning to the HOLY God...human touch would have, IMHO, contaminated HIM with sin before He fulfilled the placement of the blood on the Mercy Seat....

That is my understanding...once the blood was placed and accepted by the Father, the matter was settled. He returned to share deeper truth to the disciples and to tell them to wait for the Glory outpouring that would now follow...

So he was weak in some sense ? It seems odd that he would take chances with being near a sinful human being at that time. Unless angels were guarding him but it doesn't say that.

I thought the same thing...but maybe it was essential for Him to tell her to give the message to the disciples.....

Or since the word can mean 'cling to', maybe He just meant don't hold onto me in such a way to keep me from leaving. I need to go to the Father now.

Jesus had to fulfill all the OT prophesies and the high priest entering sanctified into the Holy of Holies makes most sense to me...

It meant "do not touch me" as the text states. All English translations have it that way up to the modern day.
It was said as a gentle warning to Mary Mag to open her eyes that he was risen as he said.
