As I started something by asking a question then it can't be a straw man can it !!![/quote]

No sounds like you don't understand nothing. No one ever ever ever said that God is doing everything (but unfortunately that truth has problems getting in to people's brains).

Is that what you brush your tooth with?

Previously I responded to this with "apparently".

    But two things:

    1) What were the chances of a 57 year old who openly denied the existence of God, even proclaimingly it loudly to people as we buried our Mum 4 months previously, who told people to be quiet if they mentioned God, suddenly of his own volition deciding that he had been wrong all his life and change his mind and repent?

    2) If one of the family is correct in what God showed them during the time he was in hospital then perhaps he wasn't lost, and if it is really God who saves us, not the other way around, then why can't God wait till the last second before saving someone?

Nope, if God hadn't saved me in a tent back in 1973 but left it up to me I'd still be hell bound.

Today I had an unexpected meeting with an pastor friend who now holds meeting in retirement homes.
He said he is leading more people to Jesus now more than all the years he was pastoring in a normal church setting.

Strange that God needs a person who actually brings the gospel to people....Why doesn't God just save them all on their death bed by his grace instead of someone taking the time to share Jesus and lead them to repentence.

The Holy Spirit is one that actually saves their soul but he uses people who share the gospel and faith is released for that person to accept Christ

God saved me by giving me the faith to believe and accept him. He provided everything and I accepted his drawing.

Not at all strange, preaching the Gospel is the way He said He'd do it. And somewhere He says we're saved for good works that He has for us to do. If no one's saved till the last moment not much work will get done will it?

One must look on the bright side and presume the best, but for numbers people like me it would be interesting to see how many were genuine conversions, how many were an emotional response, and how many were people having an each way bet.
