Would your church change service times to watch sport?
This weekend is our football grand final weekend.
Unfortunately in the AFL the Swans didn't win.
The NRL final it tomorrow night and the Sunday night service is (probably) being shortened so that the footy can be watched on the big screens at church.
Would you church do this?
What do you think of it?

NO!
As much as Hubby enjoys watching his favorite team play, he would never reschedule or shorten a worship service because of a football game.

No, mine would not...they would probably take that as 'idolatry' although I wouldn't.
We are moving our service tomorrow to a funeral home for a service for a very dear old saint that went home a few days ago...in the past we have moved Wednesday night service to the home of someone who, due to illness could not attend.

They should use that opportunity to teach that the team that lost represent those that walk after the flesh and didn't make it to Heaven... you know, to scare the bejabbers out of some of those guys which would be easy to do if they put football above the Lord which really should be a good message about idolatry and how Jesus said all idolators will have their place in the lake 'o fire (Revelation 21:8) along with the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and all liars.
That ought to freak 'em out... unless they are false grace / OSAS

Yep, unfortunately, I've heard of that too.
Hubby and I are just glad the Super Bowl starts around 6:00 PM - That gives us plenty of time for Church, and for me to make my 3-Alarm Wings for our annual party.

No, and this morning we have a shorter service, no sermon, but a 7 min "Game - Dance Off".

No, but if we did, we would do so without any guilt whatsoever. We don't go in much for condemnation.
