    Primitive Baptist

A friend on Facebook posted that his grandmother passed this morning. He mentioned she was Primitive Baptist. I've heard of it but never knew why they used the word "primitive" or what differences there are with other Baptist.

My grandfather was a deacon in a Baptist church that believed you had to be baptized in running water (river, creek).

I'm familiar with Two Seed Baptist because I've had a lot of association with Branhamites (serpent seed believers) growing up.

But never knew curious the differences in primitive, pilgrim Baptist, American Baptist, freewill, northern, southern.

I think the Primitives are pretty conservative.

Yup. My guess is they would be Fundamentalist independant. The kind where the women go skiing with a large full length (church approved) handmade floral pattern dress over their too-flashy downhill ski suits.

True story from our local ski resorts.

I thought this would be more the Pilgrim Baptist.

I ran into some Pilgrim Baptist up in Washington state and they (women) had on these chapel veils.

Hard shell Baptist, primitive Baptist, etc. I think they are Calvinists.

Interesting. I thought Calvinism was exclusively a Presbyterian doctrine.
