As an aside, this subject reminds me of the early forum days 15yrs ago.
What do you mean they are hypocrites? Just curious.

If you mean what I'm thinking, we may be on the same page. Some won't celebrate Christmas, Easter or even Valentine's Day (no kidding), but will celebrate Mother's Day, thanksgiving and birthdays, which also have pagan origins.

(editted to add: I'm trying to Grinch on anyone, just being real honest that I'm searching... but still celebrating.)
There's no scripture that prohibits us from celebrating his birth either.

The only ones who want it outlawed are atheist, humanist, anti christ law makers, and Muslims. That's very telling IMO. Who wants to align themselves with that. I have posed this question to Christians who are anti Christmas.

On the other hand, for most Americans, it's just an excuse to party and drink. The birth of Christ is nowhere on the radar. Most of white America no longer goes to church.

I see that (about no scripture prohibiting us ...). I'm just having a season of wrestling, that's all... I don't have conviction one way or the other, so because of that, I've toned down the usual festivities and parties and decorating in favor of being still and hearing His voice this season.

I strongly dislike the commercialism and the pressure of trying to please everyone (I find shopping for gifts VERY stressful!) ... the cleaning, the baking ... all stressful....

    But

I remember the first Christmas after I made Jesus Lord of my life... my Savior, my Lord... and the way the Christmas carols came alive!!! I understood them, REALLY understood them, and the way my spirit swelled with joy!!! Oh my gosh! No one can tell me that worshiping Jesus is ever wrong. I've also had friends who don't celebrate because of the pagan roots, try to explain it to me...

This is the first Christmas since then that I haven't gone to church in December or Christmas Eve in 35 years.

    Stupid covid.

But I will always celebrate HIM. Worship HIM.

Don't even think about posting religious-spirited criticisms of Christmas and allegations that it is a pagan holiday on my pages. I'll delete comments like that and maybe even ban you if you keep it up. Whether or not it was a pagan holiday centuries ago is irrelevant. We've made it Christian and we glorify Jesus in it. End of story.

And then in the comments he added:
Why would anyone want to miss this annual golden opportunity to reach people for Jesus when they are most open and vulnerable?

Awesome testimony. Christmas is still a profound witness to the world IMO. Whether they like it or not, they have to acknowledge what this holiday is really meant for.

Weird Christmas in Israel this year. We are on our third nationwide lockdown and folks over 65 have been restricted for most of the year. So, I literally could only do shopping on-line. My wife's birthday gifts haven't arrived yet and only one Christmas gift arrived. I did some baking and I got some candy from the grocery but only one nice gift. We were not allowed to have a company Christmas party so we invited 8 people to a dinner/party at our small apartment in Jerusalem. My wife managed to get me an awesome gift and it arrived but the rest of my gifts for her may take months to get here. The main post office of Jerusalem was hit by a complete closure when it was discovered one of their people had Covid-19 and had spread the disease to the entire staff. They brought in staff from other offices but that just managed to make a total disaster out of mail sorting and forwarding for the whole country. They now say they are not actually having any problem and all packages will arrive on schedule some time in April or May.
Gotta love this country or you will surely go insane.
