    Leighton Flowers Dedication Thread

We need to honour men who have turned from error and received revelation
from God exposing the deception in Calvinsm

They get attacked for preaching truth by those still blinded by false doctrine

    God bless Leighton Flowers

This page shares testimonies of people who have left Calvinism for a more Arminian theology (these can be seen below).
If you were once a Calvinist and have left Calvinism, please share your story with us

Does God Love Everyone? The Heart of What is Wrong with Calvinism | Denver Seminary
It becomes clear in this light that consistent Calvinist theology not only denies that God loves everyone but also obscures the gospel message of Jesus Christ himself.

(I wasn't going to post here as it is a dedication thread but as you've added links I feel free to do so).

But what exactly is the definition of "love" that Reformed theology denies is the type of love that God supposedly has for everyone? Is it Biblical?

The linked document says, "God truly loves all persons" and "Truly to love someone is to desire their well-being and to promote their true flourishing as much as you properly can" but is that a Biblical definition of love or a fleshly one?

When asked about saying God loves everyone the Reformed teacher R.C. Sproul (RIP) started with "Historically and theologically we distinguish among three types of divine love" so already we're at odds. He goes on to speak of "the love of benevolence", "the love of God (being) defined in terms of God's beneficence", and the "special love that God has for His Son, and all of those who are in His Son, and who are adopted into His family".

    He goes on to say,

When I hear preachers stand up and say that 'God loves everybody unconditionally,' I want to scream and say, 'Wait a minute.
Then why does He call us to repent?
Why does He call us to come to the cross?
Why does He call us to come to Christ?'
If God loves everybody unconditionally, then you can do whatever you want and believe whatever you think.
And it's just not true that God loves us unconditionally.
He's placed an absolute condition by which He requires—He doesn't just invite people to come to His Son—He commands all men everywhere to repent of their sins and to come to Christ. (formatting and emphasis mine).

So what we have is two competing views of "love" when talking about God and His relationship with men; a philosophically view and a Biblical view. Which appeals to the flesh? Which appeals to the soul?

I'd suggest something, but when I said it to the Colonel it (rightfully) got deleted.
