Scriptures on Benefits of Tongues
Romans 8:26,27
the Spirit also helps our infirmities (weaknesses, shortcomings): for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
And He that searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Jude 1:20,21
But you, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost...Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
1 Corinthians 14:2
He that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not unto men, but unto God: for no man understands him; howbeit in the Spirit he speaks mysteries.
1 Corinthians 14:14
If I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays
1 Corinthians 14:4
He that speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself
Edify = Building, imposing (forcing out wrong thinking) the HOPE of the Gospel (the Mind of Christ) which is larger, more powerful than darkness in your soul... which is the anchor of a saved soul (Heb 6:19)
The Holy Spirit seeks to shine, glorify (activate) the anointing of Jesus (the living Word of God) within our soul to force out darkness and replace it with God's Glory... which is Who the Holy Spirit is! But, we have to cooperate by praying in tongues and meditating / speaking / acting on God's promises (with fasting) which is the fuel that the Holy Spirit seeks to ignite our soul and in our lives overall with His Presence. The more of God's Word that we put, the more the Holy Spirit has to work with to bring forth the boldness of Jesus Christ thru us.
