    Jesus had a House

This'll probably irritate somebody that doesn't believe the whole Bible...

    Jesus had a House

    John 1:38,39
Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?
He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.

    Mark 2:15
And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in His house...

And, before folks get all bent out of shape... they need to go back and read what God says about those that keep His laws, and then realize Jesus Christ was the only guy who ever kept the entire law with perfection, so if anybody was ever gonna prosper in all areas of life... including financially... it would be Jesus.

Besides, He was believed by many to be the Messiah, so there were plenty of rich folks around who would have been glad to give Him a house.

Jesus deliberately became poor, thats what the scriptures teach....that was embracing the lowering of himself on earth - the condescension

    Just some hyper prosperity embellishment

Actually, during His ministry He had money... He had one guy on staff who's job it was to handle all the money (Judas), and He was known for always giving to the poor. He taught in synagogues where it was customary to support the rabbi's with offerings.

It's when He went to the Cross... that's when He actually became poor.

God desires for His people to use money to establish His Covenant (Deut 8:18), but He does not want us to make money in to an idol which some of the TV preachers appear to be doing.

But, if you wanna be poor like you believe Jesus was... give me your address and I'll come pick up all your stuff so you can go live under a bridge somewhere with just the clothes on your back... that'll make a brutha really close to Jesus!

God teaches those that keep His laws will prosper... you don't think Jesus fell short of God's laws do you?

    WRONG

He walked everywhere...he didn't have a chariot, horse or donkey.....there were 13 mouths to feed so of course they had money but it was to keep them going in the ministry

He even told people to sell everything...it would be hypocrisy to expect that from mortals and the son of God didn't practise it

    You are propagating hyper-prosperity teaching

Jesus was of course incredibly rich but he became poor and showed how trusting his Father through faith he could still live the abundant life and not lack even though he never had possessions or wealth.

He was given money by others and blessed by the Father when he needed it.....that is real faith not getting everyone's elses money by manipulation and living extravagantly

Jesus had to borrow someone else's donkey to ride into Jerusalem as well as use someone else's upper room for the last supper

The teaching that Jesus had riches and wealth on earth is a lie , a deception by satan and believers swallow it.

Now after the resurrection there is no doubt that God does release wealth but believers should never live opulently like a Hollywood celebrity. He wants to bless us financially but too many are greedy and covetous and lust after riches

Jesus probably rented that house in Capernaum for a while. He says elsewhere that he has nothing to rest his head on which means he had no base or safe haven, the crowds were always looking for him and people were after him to kill him. They had rich people support them and they had a money box which Judas Iscariot was in charge of and he stole from it which they would have noticed if there wasn't a substantial flow of money. Jesus wore an expensive tunic that was made out of a single piece of cloth, he could have sold that to give the money to the poor. As compared to the very poor in his environment, Jesus lived comfortably. Walking was a preferred way of travelling for most Jews at that time, they would use their donkeys as beasts of burden and then walk themselves.

As for living opulently, that can be a matter of definition. Some of the people I've met during my travels through 76 countries have viewed me as extremely rich as compared to them and they were right. Most people in the West are. It didn't hurt my witness though.

Jesus became poor when he was born into this world. In two ways, first because he was much richer in every way in heaven. Second because he no longer had his status as king in the eyes of his surroundings. It doesn't mean that he tried to live like a beggar.

No one said he tried to live like a beggar...why do you bring things up no one even discusses.

He chose to live a poor lifestyle and by faith trust in his Father...it's very simple
Do you think a beautiful robe would stay clean miraculously when Jesus walked for miles in a hot, dusty, sweaty environment.

When did he take a shower, brush his teeth, go to the toilet....most people lived a simple existence if they didn't have wealth. Jesus lived very simply and at times was blessed by wealthier believers but he only took what he needed to fulfill his purpose

I didn't say that anyone said that he tried to live like a beggar. I was merely pointing out what his poverty (so that we might become rich) did not amount to. There were plenty of beggars in Israel at that time, and then a lot of day workers. Jesus' lifestyle was simple by our standards who are very rich by the standards of at least half the world today and by the standards of all the world back in those times. But it was very comfortable when compared to large segments of his own environment.

They had plenty of water in Israel and their own system for going to the toilet. Taking baths and washing frequently was no problem, even for beggars. Housing, clothing that wasn't completely worn out and proper food (including drink that was antiseptic unlike plain water) was more of a problem for the poor. Jesus had the ability to rent a house when someone didn't welcome him into their own house, he had enough food and drink to be accused of being a drunkard and glutton and he had an expensive tunic that wasn't sufficiently worn that the soldiers dividing his belongings decided they were not interested in it.

John the Baptist had the opposite reputation of being some crazy character in the wilderness, eating little and drinking no wine.
