New thread so as to not get off topic.
While discussing gaps in genealogies in Scripture ( Incomplete genealogies in the Old Testament ) the words "old earth" came up again.
Naturally it's come up before in ( When was Adam created...gaps in geneologies? ) and ( Origins, the flood, ancient human migration ) and in one of these threads we find
But what I find a lack of in these threads (there may be more threads, but the search option isn't all that hot) is Scripture. In fact in the above two threads I can only find one Scripture reference and it is right at the end of the thread ( Origins, the flood, ancient human migration ).
Because of the lack of Scripture in previous posts I'd like to ask this (and if it's been addressed, my apologies, just point me where to go):
Given we know that ONLY Scripture (i.e Genesis to Revelation) is God-breathed (NIV) (given by inspiration of God, KJV) and is useful for teaching (causing (someone) to learn or understand something), rebuking (expression of sharp disapproval or criticism), correcting (telling (someone) that they are mistaken) and training (develop and improve through instruction) in righteousness, if we only look at Scripture:
- What Scriptures can we use to support the idea of an "old earth"?
- How do these Scriptures support an "old earth"?
- On a scale of 1 to 10 how strong is that support?
