    3. On a scale of 1 to 10 how strong is that support?
If we are talking about the duration between the first day when the Earth was created and the sixth day when Adam and Eve were created and whether or not that duration is equal to five literal days according to the Bible, then I'd say the scriptural support is 9.99999999999 on that scale - for an older Earth.

The reason why it's not 10 is that the Bible doesn't define anywhere that those five days don't happen to be 24 hours long each. It does define the seventh day as lasting until the resurrection of Christ, the "day" we are currently in as starting with the resurrection, and the last day, the day of eternity, lasts literally forever.

2 Peter 3:18 NASB but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

The original Greek includes the word for "day" even though the KJV skips it. The NASB, which is considered a more literal translation than the KJV, includes it.

For clarification please before I can respond more, where does it do that?

    Hebrews 3-4

Is it possible that the earth is both young and old, and that the problem is our perception of time?

I don't get the question. The Earth has encircled the sun X number of times since it was formed.

The perception of time is impacted by gravity, and gravity is impacted by mass. The universe is expanding which impacts the space/time continuum. The age of the universe is estimated by observing the furthermost observable galaxy. What I'm asking is if the universe is 13.8 billion years old from our perspective but considerably younger from a different perspective? Dr. Russel Humphreys is doing research on time dilation in search of a resolution of the issue.

Maybe but I don't think that arriving at 6-10,000 years and two hundred generations of human beings would be conceivable.

    Here's another day :

Mat 10:15 Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!

The expression "day of judgment" is used ten times in the New Testament and it's always singular and not plural. That's the day when men will be judged according to the deeds that they have done, good or bad. How long will that day last ? 24 hours ? From morning until evening ? I don't think so. Judging 10+ billion people for all their deeds so that all the other people will be satisfied with the justice pronounced will take quite some time. I don't know how long but easily years. So that's yet another "day" that lasts much longer than 24 hours.

So how many "days" do we have by now ?

    The six creation days
The seventh day when man was supposed to enter God's rest but didn't
The day called "Today", the day of salvation, when man can enter God's rest through Jesus
    Judgment day
    The day of eternity

That's ten. And there could be more.

What Scriptures do we base the enigma of light as a wave or a particle on? or quantum mechanics vs relativity? The point is we don't know everything, and there are some mysteries we have to be willing to accept. God wrote two books - the Bible and nature. The Bible seems to indicate that the Earth is less than 10,000 years old. The observable universe appears to be nearly 14 billions years old. So I figure the truth is somewhere in the unknown, so we shouldn't be so dogmatic about this.
