Not saved until we receive the Holy Spirit baptism

So what flavor of Christian am I debating on youtube that says that the Samaritans were not saved when they believed and were baptized?

They were not saved until Peter and John laid hands on them and they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit.? This person also says that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is for sinners and is what brings them into the body of Christ (for by one Spirit we are baptized into the body of Christ). Then he says that the Ethiopian was not saved because he didn't receive the HS Baptism.

He also uses Cornelius in Acts 10 to say that they were saved because of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, not because they believed Peter as he preached the gospel message.

Not sure I have ever encountered such a person before.

Didn't the United Pentecostal Church teach this. If I recall, they used to require one to speak in tongues to be saved.

I heard of a group like this down here in the 1980's. They initially belonged to a denomination which had a major outpouring of the HS in the 60's and 70's.
This group left and started their own denomination which grew but eventually faded out by the 1990's even though they probably had a remnant who held onto this teaching.

I remember a friend bringing this up when he talked to one of them....they sounded cultish to me

    Traditional Apostolics do as well.

Thanks fellas! The guy is really stuck on Peter's first sermon: "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

Says that this is how and when we are all baptized into one body by one Spirit.

No, they were in John 20:22 on the day of the resurrection.

Baptized by the Spirit is different to baptized in the Spirit.

When we moved to Denver, a Pentecostal guy called on us, assuming we were unsaved because he thought we didn't pray in tongues. When I told him I did pray in tongues, he gave me the right hand of fellowship...sort of. Our eventual pastor in Denver had come out of the UPC because of their legalism. No short sleeve shirts for men, women and the hairdo thing. When our pastor's wife joined a bowling team, I'm sure all their relatives thought they had one foot in hell and the other on a banana peel.
