    About the Holy Spirit...

Here's something I've been pondering lately. I realize that the purpose of the Holy Spirit is to be our Comforter, to lead us into all truth, and all that. But the Holy Spirit IS, first, last, and always a member of the trinity. The Holy Spirit IS God in the same way that Jesus Christ IS God (in bodily form). So my question is this: Since we often say we "love" God the Father and we "love" Jesus, are we not also to "love" the Holy Spirit? As I said, I know the Holy Spirit does not seek to glorify Himself, but to glorify Christ. Yeah, I get that. But does that mean we don't love the Holy Spirit? Are we to only love 2/3 of the trinity? I admit that in the Word I can find admonitions to love the Father and to love the Son, but I can't find any place where we're told to love the Holy Spirit. In a way, that seems odd, given that the Holy Spirit is as fully God as is Jesus.

I know we often pray, addressing the Holy Spirit. But do we express love to the Holy Spirit? What say ye?

I don't express it quite like you do but I always give thanks for all three.

We have the communion of the Holy Spirit where he can be very tangibly present but he reveals Jesus to us including his human personality and his human actions while he was on Earth. Jesus in turn represented and revealed the Father. I don't see the Holy Spirit as a humanlike person in a bodily form rather the Bible says that he is the spirit of Jesus. I think that that is a form of hyper-trinitarianism, something that the early schism between the Oneness Pentecostals and the trinitarian Pentecostals produced. Not that the Oneness version is right to any useful degree but the schism had the effect that especially a lot of trinitarian Pentecostals became too extreme in their trinitarianism. The usual two trenches where truth is found somewhere in the middle - of the road.

I give thanks too, but I express love to God, my Father, and to Jesus my Lord. I haven't really thought of expressing love toward the Holy Spirit, though. I just wondered if others have done so and in what ways.

So is all that to say that loving the Holy Spirit is not something we should do?

    Three Scriptures come to mind:

"...and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us (Rm 5:5).

Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me (Rm 15:30).

"...and he also informed us of your love in the Spirit (Col 1:8).

Because God is love, the Holy Spirit pour's God's love into our hearts and often the strongly manifested presence of the Holy Spirit will create an atmosphere of love for the Godhead. Therefore, I don't have a problem telling the Holy Spirit I love Him.
If you put God First, you have Him at Last.

I have often spoken with Him. I have apologized to Him for grieving Him. Ask Holy Spirit what He thinks of you, some time.

Oh and one of the ministries of Holy Spirit is to convict the world of sin. He does a good job of that.

I have always told the Holy Spirit I love Him just like I do when I tell the Father and Jesus during my worship. The Bible says we are to worship and praise God, and He is God, so I worship and praise Him too. Although I think a lot of people would disagree with that. But I'm just doing what the Bible tells me to do. The fact He doesn't seek to glorify Himself is irrelevant to the fact the Bible tells me to worship God, and He is God.

    I definitely love Holy Spirit!

I've noticed that when someone is teaching about Holy Spirit, He comes and moves through the crowd in a very special, gentle way, often referred to as a "Sweet Spirit."

Just pondering Him right now, I can feel His presence...
