I have to admit that especially at funerals of people I don't know where clearly saved, I often hope for a loophole that lets them in. For instance, my wife's aunt just died. Before her death I had e-mailed her, probing if she was interested in the gospel. She replied, "I do believe, I just believe in my own way." Hoookay. No opportunity to probe farther...but my prayer was that God would take this anemic confession of hers and honor it in the same way as Jesus did with the father who said, "I believe, help my unbelief." I sure would like to see her in heaven.

The old saying, “live your life so the preacher doesnt have to lie at your funeral” definately applies. Sometimes I cry out “give me some evidence!”. It’s been a rough year for funerals.

To those that I warned back in the early days some 10 years ago when we debated this book, I wont say I told you so but I will say, ask me if I’m surprised. Be careful what you pour into your spirit.
What I have lovingly pointed out to the OSAS folks who try to use this scripture is that it says nothing can separate you from the love of God, not that it cannot separate you from God and an eternity with Him.

God loves even the rankest of sinners and desires that all would repent and come to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Being separated from God and being separated from the love of God are two entirely different things.

I am finishing up a series on the Basic Principles of Christ mentioned in Hebrews 6 right now. Plan on teaching on the doctrine of eternal judgment this coming week. All disciples need to know and understand how to teach these basics to others, IMHO.

If one can be in eternal hell and be united with the love of God at the same time then that concept becomes meaningless. That is a poor objection to the OSAS claim, I have an entirely different objection. "Myself and my own decisions" aren't included in the list, they can separate us from the love of God and eventually we end up in hell. Nothing external to us can force us out of his love apart from our own decisions, that's the point.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

And that is why Jesus was able to preach that we need to love our enemies. While we were yet enemies of God, He demonstrated His love for us, through Jesus Christ dying for us on the cross. For God so loved the world (that means even Adolf Hitler) that He gave His only begotten son...........

That is the love of God. Your sin didn't keep God from showing you His love.

He doesn't show people his love while they are in eternal hell. Eternal hell separates them from his love.

To quote king Solomon : There is hope for the living but there is more hope for a living dog than for a dead lion.
