Thread: Word of Faith - The Biblical Basis

    I think that WOF and PC are "forward looking" toward God's great workings that overcome present circumstances. We speak to things that are not as though they were (Rom 4:17), because FAITH has a VOICE.

    I posit that God wants to see our "fighting spirit" that sees a coming victory, a turnaround - the tenacious believing attitude much like the Syro-Phoenician woman who wouldn't take no for an answer - even from Jesus, who commended her for it (Mark 7:24-30).

    We STAY in FAITH until the miracle happens. This is EXPECTATION of the MAXIMUM from God, because he is a GREAT God.
    - This is the spiritually militant position my Sr Pastor took, SPEAKING HEALING into his life (NOT "I'm a goner!") when his doctor have him 3 months to live due to throat cancer - 25 years ago.

    This is BEST PRACTICES for not only for WOF and PC or ANY Christian. We think not of fearful thoughts, or worse, what bad thing might happen, why even speak it? What good would it do? It's only an opportunity for faith to FAIL. Yes, the devil is trying to kill me every day - but should I worry, or worse, say "I hope I survive the day"? (No, God has me in his hands until my work is done).

    Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things. Phil 4:8

    Cardinal has a valid point....truth is we far more often do NOT see a manifestation of the healing power of God...our confession does not match our experience....WOF teaches we need to study harder, find out the missing piece of the formula.....No, we need to get on our face before God and ask HIM to show us why our confessions are not manifesting...to either correct the understanding or remove the doubt and unbelief hindering the manifestation....

    BUT when is that just mind over matter...self discipline...neither of which produces any real spiritual change within or without?

    Fair enough question. Basically, I think that our focus needs to be on God, in dependence on him, NOT impersonal positive thinking. There WILL be a discipline of STAYING in FAITH, maintaining speaking/confessing in-line with the Word, and what we are trusting that God will do.

    Extreme WOF Response (Not recommended): No, it ain't broke
    No Faith Response (Not recommended): Yeah, I am always gonna have accidents like this. This arm will probably take forever to heal.
    Healthy WOF Response (Ding! Ding! Ding!): I thank God he is the healer, and I believe I'll be back in full swing in record time, PTL. By your stripes I am healed, Amen.
