Thread: Common Figure of Speech/Colloquial Language?

    Cardinal TT,
re: "For someone who has stopped believing you have alot of faith"

Apples and oranges. But even if it were apples and apples, it dosn't apply because it's not faith (i.e., a strongly held belief) but rather simply an openness to the possibility. The same as being open to the possibility of a supreme being.

Honestly, if you were looking to have an honest dialogue someone might be willing to entertain that discussion with you, but when I first read your OP it didn't come across as someone who wanted to talk, but as someone who had an agenda. Maybe try re-wording what you're asking so we can see a true desire to dialogue.

    Lista,
re: "Honestly, if you were looking to have an honest dialogue someone might be willing to entertain that discussion with you..."

    I'm not.

Are you a 6th day of the week crucifixion /1st day of the week resurrection believer who thinks the "heart of the earth" refers to the tomb, and who tries to explain the lack of a 3rd night by saying that the Messiah was using common figure of speech of the period?

Maybe someone new looking in may know of examples.

And that "someone new" needs to be someone who believes the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week with a 1st day of the week resurrection, and who thinks that the "heart of the earth" is referring to the tomb, and who tries to explain the lack of a 3rd night by saying that the Messiah was employing common figure of speech/colloquial language of the period.

And I'm still not going to answer it, especially not after looking at thread #104. You are specifically asking for someone who believes very specific criteria to answer your question. That means, you're looking to "debunk" someone's theology, and I'm unwilling to play. Why don't you just state your opinion, and see if you have any takers?

I simply asked Mr Google, skipped the first link as it was by Mormons and the second and third link dealt with it.

    Jesus said it.

    It is true.

We don't have to understand everything perfectly.

It is not a deal breaker.

    Lista,
re: "Why don't you just state your opinion..."

It's not an opinion - it's a fact that so far no one has provided any examples.

But perhaps someone new visiting this topic may know of examples.
