Yeah but there are scriptures against fear however what scripture teaches against certain forms of music in the abstract regardless of lyrical content. It simply isn't there. How exactly can Music be Satanic in Origin but yet shrouded by Christian Lyrics? Its a simple test .Doe it proclaim Jeuss as Lord ? If so then it is not satanoi... This IMHO is going way beyond bible and into the esoteric

Per the issue of bondage , well all I can go by is my observation in the NT that the apostles were very hesitant to give people rules and thou shalt and thou shalt nots. Bondage is real due to the sin consciousnesses it induces and imho is far more harmful than any supposed satanic music yet christian lyrics will ever be
There are scriptures against lust, pride, greed, murder, so the point was to ask each one to CONSIDER in the presence of the Holy Spirit with a sincere heart willing to release ant=ything we love, 'Lord, how is what I am listening to affecting my soul?'

While there are non that speak directly to music there are many that warn us against things...anything...that draws us from Christ....anything that leads us to temptation....

I agree the apostles were not specific in instructions...they pointed to the Spirit given to lead us there and told us what 'there' should look like...so I see this man pointing out the very spiritual communication of music for those who may be dismissing the very ungodly affect it's having on them and trying to enhance their awareness that the sensations are universal and not limited to 'lyrics'. He is teaching them to listen with the Spirit and perceive the affect...

I believe through observation and experience many Christians play with the world...try to walk a tightrope....like to worship in one breath and then laugh or allow the world to minister to them in the next while convincing ourselves we are superior to it's influence..

As noted in the video, the people's emotional responses were to music with NO lyrics so his point is that lyrics are not THE spiritual force...

Know the song by Bon Jove Hallelujah?

I asked myself how a song so filled with lust concepts seemed so spiritual...so many love it, Christian and non...

Now consider how many variations there are of it...Christmas, Easter, Veterans, the Singing Priest wedding version....all of them carry the same powerful emotional response....it's not the lyrics....

This is a personal spiritual matter but it makes me sad to see Christians I know allow music to keep them weak spiritually not realizing it is affecting their walk...drawing them back into the world...little by little....or at least positioning them to juggle the 2...

Again there is nothing wrong with feeling. God gave us feelings . Those feelings can always be associated with or channeled or projected on to something Godly or on the other hand unto something Ungodly.

Music forms in and of themselves have no moral or spiritual connotations beyond what we assign them .

To be fair , I didnt watch the video Its way too long. Perhaps you can tell me where in the video to look where he makes this point so I can hear him firsthand.

    However, per the underlined ..
People are not blank emotional creatures . For a person who was deep into hip hop culture with all its negativity a hip hop beat may invoke memories of the world he/she came from not because the beat itself is wrong but because of its association (TO THAT PERSON) with a sinful past in that arena .

If I am understanding you correctly you are saying the beat itself is the issue and I am saying NO. the beat itself is only an issue because of that persons mental strongholds associated with that kind of music that haven't been dealt with so a blanket warning about Hip Hop beats for all would be legalism and nothing more.

Also this applies to anything not just music. In the NT for some it was food offered to idols which could cause some to stumble due to their previous involvement in the immoral practices associated with buying the foods from certain places while for others it was a non issue because they had no such mental history. But as Paul noted the food itself was neutral .

I know people whom have given up basketball , soccer , sports , golf etc because of the powerful memories of immorality that those things invoked FOR THEM but typically that would only be for a season until the person was sufficiently re-oriented enough to put those things in their proper perspective.

At the 6 minute mark he plays various pieces and calls for responses from the audience as to how they 'felt'. About minute 16 he gets into the fact that music by God's design would ALWAYS uplift and compel us to high moral and emotional responses...that everything that is not following His design is aimed at perverting and drawing us down...He then gets into more detail about the emotional compulsion of different rhythms..

I understand your point through illustration of sports..not a sin in and of themselves....thanks for being patient...and yes, as presented in this video music is different....it is not amoral...

Clearly, music sans lyrics can move the soul. From the primitive beat of war drums to modern movie sound tracks, music has been used for a very long time to produce an emotional response.

    Point being?
