Mary doesn't intercede for us before God and neither is she the mother of the church

What the Pope said about Mary is idolatry, blasphemy and a slap in the face of Christ being the only true redeemer and mediator
Cardinal: Why ignore the clear rationale for describing the outlet as shady?

The pope stated long-standing RCC doctrine (which I don't agree with). The news outlet is shady because it completely misrepresented the pope's comments.

I gave the eulogy at a Catholic funeral this week. I was determined to get across the relational aspects of knowing Jesus personally, while not being provocational in word usage.
I was surprised when the priest asked to see the text of my eulogy. After a few minutes I got the "imprimatur".

Hehe, Colonel. Didnt expect everyone to know that word. It is Catholic-speak for a document that has been reviewed and is found to pass muster inline with Catholic teaching.

You managed to avoid things like "Mary is NOT the queen of heaven, I repeat..." ?

Since this was a family member, I needed to be prudent. I did have some control over some particulars (e.g., nixing the Ave Maria song)

That's what modern Catholics do all the time, emphasize this, ignore that.

I think that the RCC has painted themselves into a corner theologically (i.e., via "infallability" of the pope) putting a limiter on how much they can "reform."

It's all in the official Catechism, strange doctrines from the early days. They can't deny them but they can ignore them or perhaps try to reinterpret them as much as possible. Instantaneous purgatory as one Catholic got from 1 Cor 15, for instance. If they give up on maintaining historical infallibility, what do they have then ? 1 billion Catholics believing 1 billion different things, some with personal relationships with Jesus, some with Mary, some with who knows what.
