"The Bible suggests that there are degrees of suffering in Hell, that not everyone's experience will be the same. That some will have different levels of suffering than others. I think that's important in understanding the mercy of God."

I mean who cares if there is levels. Hell is hell and suffering for eternity is suffering for eternity.

You disagree with Jesus bringing it up, he thought it was important enough to proclaim
Matt 10:15 - Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!
Mar 12:40 - who devour widows' houses, and as a pretense make long prayers. These shall receive greater damnation
The translation of Mark 12:40 is very old, even the NKJV corrects it to condemnation. The Greek word involved relates to judgment and condemnation, not to damnation as in some form of hell.
I think Jesus' point is to compare degrees of sinfulness and injustice, not particularly to discuss levels of hell. There is noone who is going to go "well Hitler's suffering in hell is bad but I'm not such a bad sinner so I will be able to endure my level of hell".
You are putting your own interpretation on these verses and saying things Jesus never said or anyone implied....they don't need any human evaluation they are so clear they speak for themselves. Jesus' words are to be taken literally as different degrees of punishment in hell
All I see there is your asserting something based on your own ingrained mindsets then expecting the matter to be settled based on your self perceived (and historically, self proclaimed) authority.
You didn't present any arguments for your view nor did you deal with any arguments presented.
