    No thanks God

God has put a burden on my heart to share the message of His precious gift of the Holy Spirit baptism with as many churches that He will open the doors to.

I am going to do this at a small church about an hour from my house this coming Sunday. As I was thinking about this message on the way to work this morning, I got a picture of a husband handing his wife a present and her handing it back and saying "No thanks, don't want it" to him. I will probably use that as an illustration this Sunday.

That is what a huge portion of the church has done today. "No thanks, I don't want your gift" or "I don't want that, it's from the devil!" How would you as a husband or wife feel if this happened in your marriage?

And yet, many Christians have done just that. And I ask, if Jesus told His first disciples to wait a few days for this so that they would receive power to be His witnesses, how dare we in a world 2000 years darker believe that we can really be His witnesses without the power that He said we need?

This is having a form of godliness but denying the power. And that is where the foolish virgins are at today. The church has been awakened, yet only some of them have the oil. What are we to do about it?

We are to become true disciples of Jesus!!!
"Make disciples of every nation, teaching them to observe all the things that I have commanded you." One of those things that Jesus commanded was to wait for the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Sovereignty thinking has something to do with it too. Many people don't think the baptism in the Spirit and being clothed in power matters that much because God will do whatever he wants anyway. And that if he doesn't do it then he probably doesn't want to either.

Many churches in America are in a comatose state. Having dealt with this subject in the Southern baptist church and other churches is like hitting your head again and again into a brick wall. They understand the elementary truths but cannot absorb the meat of the word many times as it does not fit their boxed in theology.

The SBC are anti Spirit baptism, arent they ? There are many churches that are more open or that technically embrace the notion but without experiencing it much.

I heard one pastor say that he believes it is for all believers, but not necessary. That is crazy!

During my days on CARM I debated all kinds on every nuance of the HSB. I found that it was easy to establish it theologically from scripture but then they had every kind of excuse. A common one seemed to be that it made things too spiritual. It was as if they didnt want Jesus to be around, it was enough that he remained in heaven and welcomed them when they died.

Lukw 24:48 And you are witnesses of these things.
49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high

Acts 8:5 Philip went down to the city of Samaria and began proclaiming Christ to them.
6 The crowds with one accord were giving attention to what was said by Philip, as they heard and saw the signs which he was performing.
