Ethically - Should we pass on bad genes?

Good science has pointed out that some illnesses are more likely for people with certain genes. And these illnesses (e.g. some cancers) cause lots of people lots of pain and can cost society in general a lot of money to look after the sick person.

So if we have the gene is it morally right to create an offspring who will possibly have to suffer the pain of disease and is it OK to possibly put a financial burden on society and exect it to pick up the bill?

I got born again so the genes I have come from Jesus Christ!

Ain't no sickness / disease being passed down to me since I put off the old man and put on the new man which is created in righteousness and true holiness. God's Word says His people have been traslated from darkness into the Kingdom of God's Son (Colossians 1:13), so WHY would we want to follow what the world says and the things that cause them problems?

Once one becomes a Christian, they should do this and leave what you are talking about behind...

    Romans 12:1,2
I declare to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your body a living sacrifice, Holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service....and be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (understanding, vision), that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

    1 Corinthians 6:19, 20
Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own....for you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

What would be the problem with going by what God says and walking by faith / not be sight instead of listening to the world?

    John 17:15-17
I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

There are many people that have decided to not have children due to the possibility of passing down genetic diseases like muscular dystrophy

I can still vividly recall a conversation I heard as a child between two women around 30 years old. One told the other that she had decided not to have children because there would be a nuclear holocaust. This was in 1982.

    Maybe?

That which is spiritual created the natural, physical world and is the Creator and thru Him we should reign in life thru Jesus Christ.

Of course nothing is going to be absolutely perfect in this side of Heaven, but if we allow the Holy Ghost to lead us based on God's promises... we can become partakers of His divine nature... AND escape the corruption that is in this world thru the desire of the flesh

    2 Peter 1:4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

It's too bad that many Christians reject this and instead walk after the flesh.

Well, if one is walking with the Lord as they should be... a nuclear holocaust would be good news!
That would be the day we get to go be with the Lord

That is a totally selfish way of seeing things.

Mankind is without excuse... those that end up in hell have plenty of opportunity to not go there.

If God sent someone to hell without them having opportunity to get saved, then that makes God a liar because He says of Himself numerous times in scripture that He is just and fair. It would not be fair for someone to be sent to hell without having had opportunity to get saved thru Jesus Christ, Who is the ONLY way of salvation.

Besides, if some one is going to light off a nuke... what are you going to do about it? Nothing!

So, all I'm saying is that we need to keep ourselves walking right before the Lord and be ready to blast off at any moment whether it be a nuke or the rapture.

Either way, the world as we have known it is drawing to a close and many will be caught unaware... but, they have been warned. The Lord not only sounds the alarm in scripture, but He has published warnings in various media outlets so nobody really has any excuse before the Lord for not being ready regardless of how one exists this world.

I'm excited about leaving here and going there, aren't you?
