I watched the video now and he quotes the OT throughout. He counters the implicit accusation that his teaching on giving firstfruits is OT by referencing Romans 11:16 without quoting it :

Romans 11:16 For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches.

    This is the context :

Romans 11:13*For I speak to you Gentiles; inasmuch as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry,*14*if by any means I may provoke to jealousy*those who aremy flesh and save some of them.*15*For if their being cast away*is*the reconciling of the world, what*will*their acceptance*be*but life from the dead?
16*For if the firstfruit*is*holy, the lump*is*also*holy;*and if the root*is*holy, so*are*the branches.*17*And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree,*18*do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast,*remember that*you do not support the root, but the root*supports*you.
19*You will say then, “Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.”*20*Wellsaid.*Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear.*21*For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either.*22*Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness,[f]*if you continue in*His*goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off.*23*And they also, if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.*24*For if you were cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, who*are*natural*branches,*be grafted into their own olive tree?

The firstfruit and the root is Jesus, the lump and the branches are believers. There is no discussion on giving.

Notice he did not sow into the temple, into the priests, into the 'church', or anything 'religious' at all. He sowed into the LAND. I don't think this has anything to do with giving into the kingdom at all, but is more of a 'business' verse. I don't think it can be extrapolated into something 'spiritual' per se. That's why we misinterpret a lot of 'financial' verses in the Bible, always trying to spiritualize it and turn it into tithing or giving into the local church (not that you did that, just making a point).

Could somebody please tell me the 4 types of giving without me having to wade through a bunch of teaching I probably disagree with.

I only noticed tithing and firstfruits then at 19 minutes his wife started talking about something else. The only NT reference they gave for tithing was some verse which allegedly says that Jesus is lord over the tithe. I have no clue where that is found but then I belong to the less than one percent of the viewers that are sufficiently knowledgable about the Bible to take notice of my not having a clue. The others will probably buy that without thinking about it.

I was merely tracing the concept of the hundredfold return, the origin of the term as Jesus used it. Im not sure how literal it is but I am sure that they ideally expected a hundredfold return on some of their seed types. In this case it could be interpreted as things going as well as they could go for Isaac, rather than as a mathematical statement. The 30,60,100 fold return as Jesus talks about, probably in relation to expected returns on various seed types, could likewise be interpreted as things going as well as possible for those who are blessed by God.

Though he doesnt discuss it (it may have been edited out in his video), Im going to guess that he interprets Romans 11:16 this way :

    16*For if the firstfruit*is*holy, the lump*is*also*holy;*and if the root*is*holy, so*are*the branches

That any firstfruit giving will make not only the firstfruit holy but also the remaining lump that one gets to keep. But what is the context ? The following verses follow up on the introduction of the root vs branches concept. The firstfruit vs lump concept is similar but what does it mean ?

1 Cor 15:20*But now Christ is risen from the dead,*and*has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.*21*For since by man*came*death, by Man also*came*the resurrection of the dead.*22*For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.*23*But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward thosewho are*Christ’s at His coming.

Christ is the firstfruits, just as he is the root ! Christ was resurrected from the dead and became the firstfruit of those who die and rise with him in the new birth and who are ultimately resurrected physically as well. Since Christ was an offering for them, they come to share in his holiness. This is not a discussion on giving, this is a discussion on being made holy and sharing in the same life, by way of an inclusion. The appearance of the term firstfruits is not enough to warrant a tranferring of the context the word is used in elsewhere and even in a different covenant, no more than the appearance of the word five is.

The four types are, First Fruit, Alms, Tithes, and Seed. You should watch the video. It's less than 20 minutes. You may find that you agree with parts, if not all.

I related in the OP if there was enough interest, I'd post part two where he discusses Alms & seed giving. The video is part one of two.
