    Can a Christian be Cursed?

We haven't discussed this in a good while...

    http://www.charismamag.com/spirit/sp...-%202016-03-08

Can you think of a trait in your family of origin you dislike? Or, on the flipside, are there characteristics you really appreciate about your family? Chances are, you can identify both good and bad qualities in your family line. Most families have traits to be admired and desired along with some we would like to sweep under the rug, never to be remembered again.

A woman came to meet with me some time ago. As she sat down, I asked her the usual question: "What brings you here today?"

She replied, "Have you ever seen the TV series Everybody Loves Raymond? Well, that is my family—total dysfunction!" We had a good laugh, but as she told me her story, I realized she was telling the truth.

Occasionally someone will say to me, "I can't think of a single good trait in my family." Still others insist, "My family was a Leave It to Beaver family, and I can't think of anything I would want to change." Most of the time, neither extreme is true. No family is perfect, and very few are deficient in every single area.

In her book Breaking Free, Bible teacher Beth Moore said this: "Between every unfaithful generation and faithful generation is one person determined to change." Whether or not we break unhealthy generational iniquity and ungodly patterns is a matter of the heart. That's where the battle is being waged—over the heart! No matter who we are or how we grew up, the question we all must answer is: Whom will we serve?

When a believer sins wilfully they potentially open themselves up to demons and curses.

    What he said.

And generational curses that have not been methodically broken can affect us.

Sometimes, when doing deliverance, we find generational curses that have lain dormant for generations and then for some reason, pops up in someone. It's just the way the enemy works.

While one can open themselves up to demonic oppression, I believe it is also possible for one to simply be oppressed by generational lies passed down, strongholds of belief that prevent one from walking in the liberty given to them In Christ...

I know I'm odd man out.. eh..

but, I don't think a believer can be possessed.. harrassed, bothered, attacked, etc.. but not possessed.

But no one has used the word "possessed."

The OP asks if a Christian can be cursed. Quite simply put, a curse is a propensity to certain sinful ways of life that travel through the blood lines.

In my experience of 25 years of inner healing and deliverance ministry, yes, a Christian can be cursed and not even know what's compelling them to do certain things.

They are not possessed. There are demons who use that curse as a legal right to torment and influence the thinking and behavior of that person.

Positionally, Jesus did all the work in His death and resurrection for every curse on us and in our bloodlines to be broken.

Practically, we need to do the work... work out our salvation and the process of sanctification.... take up our cross daily.

AND in all my years of doing inner healing and deliverance, I've always explained to people that possessed is an incorrect translation... a more accurate word is demonized... under the influence of demons.

My mom told me that Eve wasn't cursed or possessed by the devil but she listened to his lies and took part in it. I think that happens in families a lot.
In my family, in every generation we have one person that caused or causes division and strife. In my own family, it was my mom that was the divider and now my oldest brother. We have not seen him in six years. And live and work in the same city. He has divided himself from our family and his wife's family. It's crazy how we have followed these same patterns and characteristics for several generations that I know of. I have been praying daily for it to be driven out of our family and that it have no power in my children and my siblings children!

The correct biblical term is "Demonized" if I remember correctly.

Might be a good time to get back to the basics in order to see people set free.
