Was lucifer a son of God?

Well the Bible is clear he was created. So he certainly wasn't a son in the same way Jesus is. Which would also not make satan Jesus' brother.

In one sense all created beings like angels are sons of God in a general way since God is the creator but once Satan fell he became the enemy
Jesus was not created so he is the son of God in the fullest sense and superior to all angels

The bible calls the angels the sons of God in the OT. Genesis 6 and Job for sure.
They are not "sons" in the same aspect that Jesus is. However, the OT does refer to them as the "sons of God".

Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God.

John 10:34*Jesus answered them,*“Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods”’?[c]*35*If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),*36*do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’?*37*If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me;*
The definite article makes the difference. Holy angels and born again human beings are sons of God but there is only one who can call himself the Son of God, possessing intrinsic divinity.

I believe that Lucifer indeed WAS a son of God since angels are referred to as "sons of God" in the Old Testament.
Jesus is the uncreated Son of God (capital "S") and New Testament believers become sons of God when they are born again through the blood of Christ. BUt Lucifer, before his fall, was indeed a created son.
I think the fact that God refers to both angels and humans as "sons" shows the high value that He places on relationship (and yes, women are "sons" just like men are a part of the "bride of Christ"). God is very much a relational God.

But the book of Mormon says so. How dare you argue against the teachings of Joseph Smith
(Dear lurker. This is a joke. We are not mormons here.)

Per the TV show 'Lucifer' which this thread is a spin-off on, it just seems so strange to hear him refer to God as 'Father'.
