Luke 8 doesnt tell the source of the storm, it could be completely natural. Luke 9 talks about casting fire from heaven like Elijah did, the context isnt natural disasters.
In general I liked his blog post but I thought he was interpreting those two scriptures a bit far.
These are true..but that's not the bottom line. Isn't it true that had MAN not chosen to sin they would have remained dominant in the earth and neither of these would have occurred.
Romans 8:21-22 …21that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.
Nature's dangers are the result of the fall, by which Adam surrendered his dominion to Satan..I believe. Whether Satan causes them or man simply could no longer take dominion over them, I am not sure..
It seems clear that Jesus was saying as the redeemed WE have regained that dominion...too bad most of us don't have the faith to exercise it.

S. D. Gordon in his book, "Quiet Talk about the Tempter" says that the original Greek presents Jesus as rebuking a PERSONALITY. I am traveling now using an iPad so can't give an exact quote.
Nonetheless, Job 1 shows a couple incidents of killer weather which are not attributed to anyone. Yet, when we read the context there is no doubt that Satan was involved. There is no reason not to see Luke 8 in that same light when the storm was obviously sent to kill Jesus.

It's quite possible of course. Luke 8 doesnt really say, except for that stuff about the greek which I've never heard before. Luke 9 doesnt involve Satan however, but it does perhaps involve a Satanic motivation for talking Jesus into allowing them to bring down fire on people. Which still wouldnt amount to a natural disaster.
An other passage says that satan left Jesus until an opportune time, after tempting him in the desert. We could guess that the storm was one of those opportune times, since there are no specific mentions of that happening.
Here is what S. D. Gordon wrote on this:
The usual reading is He "rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace be still." The more literal reading is immensely suggestive and helpful. "He said to the sea, Lie down, be muzzled." It is the sort of language one uses in speaking to a dog that is misbehaving. If the word be repeated in the sharp peremptory tone of command, in which one speaks to his dog, it makes the sense yet more intense and real;—"down sir! lie down!" The whole passage is significant. It is not the sort of language to be used in talking merely to wind and wave, especially by as even-poised a man as our Lord was. There is at once the recognition of an evil spirit, or a group of them, who had aroused the unusually violent storm. The very language used is a recognition of personality. There was some one at work through wind and water. He is ordered down. He obeys. There was a great calm. But the point to mark just now is that his sphere of action includes wind and water as well as the earth. Mark keenly why this is the sphere of his activity—because we are here. It is us he is after, and through us the dominion of this realm. (Quiet Talks on the Tempter, pp. 91, 92)
