My Public Apology and Process
UPDATE: Part 2
Dear Saints,
It has been exactly two weeks since I released my public apology on January 7th concerning Donald Trump. The letter that I wrote was then distributed without my knowledge to nearly every national Christian website and magazine that you can imagine. In the days that followed, I admit that I was totally unprepared for the death threats and thousands upon thousands of hateful emails and phone calls our ministry received from around the United States. By the hour, many of our ministry partners withdrew their financial support declaring I was a coward, sell-out, and traitor to the Holy Spirit.
I want to be clear and state that these vicious attacks, threats, and insults have not come from individuals upset that I inaccurately prophesied Donald Trump would win a second term (which I expected), but rather from Charismatic Christians who were absolutely furious because they said my apology came out too soon and they were certain that I just needed to wait until January 20th (Inauguration Day) for Donald Trump to get his second term. In their words, "Then you will be repenting for repenting".
Now that Joe Biden has officially been sworn in as the 46th President of the United States of America, I want to briefly share four observations I have made in the last two weeks that I will be addressing in detail through a series of online videos in the weeks ahead. I'm now convinced that large portions of the prophetic/charismatic movement are far sicker than I could have ever imagined. Once again, for whatever role I might have played in this sickness, I am extremely sorry and ask for the body of Christ's forgiveness. Here are my four brief observations:
1. The number one response our ministry received to my public apology was being rebuked from thousands of people who told me that I never needed to repent and even if Donald Trump did not receive a second term, it didn't matter- I was still right! My first terrifying observation is that we have somehow created a prophetic/charismatic community that not only does not care if prophets prophesy inaccurately, but they think it is their job to actually rebuke prophets for repenting. In an extremely sick and twisted way, the words of the prophet Jeremiah are being fulfilled when he said, "The prophets prophesy falsely and the people LOVE it so!" (Jeremiah 5:31)
2. The next most popular response we received from my public apology was being rebuked for stating in my letter that I had submitted it to senior, respected leaders in the Body who gave their approval before I publicly released it. I was stunned to receive hundreds and hundreds of emails and phone calls from Christians who said that as a prophet, I did not need to submit myself and ministry to any national leaders in the body of Christ. So many declared the same rhetoric, "Jeremiah, you have been raised up as a national prophet and should never care what any seasoned leaders have to say about your prophetic words." My second terrifying observation is that we have created a culture in the prophetic/charismatic movement that has allowed prophets to minister words that have absolutely no checks and balances. We have applauded a total lack of accountability for prophetic words being tested, judged, and weighed as 1 Corinthians 14 and I Thessalonians 5 command. This is absolutely appalling and extremely grieving in the sight of God. When prophetic revelation is not submitted to apostles for apostolic input or to five fold teachers to test the said prophetic revelation against what the Word of God teaches, we are in serious trouble.
3. The third most popular response we received from my public apology was being rebuked for stating in my letter that I am also committed to faithfully attending a local church body for community and accountability with pastors and elders. If being berated for relational accountability on a national level wasn't enough, we received hundreds of horrible accusations and vile comments concerning local church leadership that absolutely made my stomach turn inside out. My third devastating observation is that we have fostered a prophetic/charismatic movement that gives prophets an opportunity to minister to a body online and through travel that really they are totally unwilling to be a part of on a consistent and relational level. Large portions of the charismatic/prophetic movement have become consumed with voices speaking who have zero accountability and community in their life, marriage, and family. The consequences of these accepted practices are wreaking havoc in the body of Christ. We must put a stop to this insanity.
4. The fourth most popular response we received from my public apology letter was being sent every conspiracy theory, bizarre videos, supposed secret intelligence, qanon directives, and the list goes on and on. It's noteworthy that many of these articles and videos have literally been viewed millions of times online. My fourth observation is that large portions of the prophetic/charismatic movement have been totally polluted by a demonic spirit that has brought great confusion, fear and ultimately normalized deception. Millions of prophetic/charismatic Christians are under a serious and troubling spirit of delusion that is being fed by the media. They honestly believe Donald Trump will still receive a second term within days and months. The need for sound biblical doctrine and a return to place of prayer has never been greater.
In the weeks ahead, I will be sharing several videos on our ministry YouTube channel (Jeremiah Johnson Ministries) that will seek to detail my personal observations, walk the public through my prophetic process with Donald Trump, and answer questions many now have concerning modern day prophetic ministry.
It is my prayer that through my own personal public repentance and vulnerability that it will open up a door for healing in the prophetic movement and for ultimately reformation to take place within the charismatic culture. A tremendous purging is upon us. How we choose to respond to the correction of God in the days ahead will separate the wheat from the tares.
With tears and a sincere burden,
Jeremiah Johnson
