    Pentecostals and John Piper !

Sad to say I have seen the young trendy type hip Pastors embracing some of his reformed teachings. John is a sincerely nice person. But for any of us Pentecostals he is totally in error about the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and the other Gifts. This young guy who I sat under was a fan of his. In this church we saw no virtually one healed or filled with the Spirit. It was always his God's sovereignty doctrine that got in the way. No authority was taken over anything evil, and the devil had a field day there.

John Piper is aligned with Pentecostals?!

John Piper (@JohnPiper) is founder and teacher of desiringGod.org and chancellor of Bethlehem College & Seminary. For 33 years, he served as pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Minneapolis, Minnesota (from desiringGod)

or, is there another pastor by that name?

I like John Piper. But I go to John Piper to get what he has to give that I need. I also go to John MacArthur for what he has to offer. I do not go to them for teaching on the Holy Spirit. As J. Vernon McGee used to say, "I may graze in other men's pastures, but I give my own milk." I have yet to see or hear the pastor/teacher who has a perfect understanding of all things doctrinal. I believe if I didn't graze in these other pastures, I'd be missing some vital nutritional element in my spiritual diet. I trust the working of the Holy Spirit in my life to sort out the meat from the bones.

I didn't think he swung that way

It's not a matter of someone having perfect teaching, it's understanding that if a guy rejects foundational teaching that God's Word lays out, he is a false teacher and should not be trusted cause he's going to slip some wrong thinking up in your get along and you won't even know it.

That's the problem with deception... it's so deceptive.

I never checked out John Piper, but John MacArthur is absolutely a heretic!

No he isn't.. he disagrees about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. I think he's wrong, but to brand him heretic is ridiculous.

It's not only ridiculous, it's an admission of purposely avoiding good and necessary teaching on those subjects these guys are good at. Charles Stanley is another good example. He's not charismatic/Pentecostal, but a lot of charismatics would do well to pay him some attention.

Refusing the Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ to live in you... is the first definition of teaching heresy.

And then, to go out and ATTACK others who walk in the Spirit and allow the Spirit to walk in them... is heresy.

He is clearly being led of satan...

Charles Stanley is OSAS so he too teaches heresy that will result in people ending up in hell.

There's plenty of full gospel ministers that teach all of God's Word, the whole counsel of God.

The teacher I enjoy the most is the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ Who was sent to lead us into ALL the Truth... and Jesus said God's Word is Truth.

This is the teacher we need to pay attention to and quit making idols out of TV preachers!
