The State of the Church
More and more I'm becoming depressed over the current state of the American church. How weak we are! How compromising! How very "lite" is our Christianity. I fear that in the hard years ahead, many will not stand. Their faith is so thin, so easily tested. I'm basing some of this (not all) on Facebook posts. Maybe I need new friends?

Bookie, I am with you in that boat.
I've started asking others how can I be an encouragement. But, as we're doing Revelation for our study this year, I'm seeing more and more how things aren't going to get better, but progressively worse.
The good news is that there will always be a remnant.
I think part of the problem, with weak faith, is that so many people have the experience of walking down to a Harvest Crusade (just the event I know the name of.. I'm talking about that emotional, get caught up in the moment, etc) and don't get into a good Bible based church to learn and grow. When folks just try to do it on their own, and don't get into a fellowship for study and.. well, fellowship, they can't mature.

It will make a come back. It goes in cycles.
What we have right now (for the most part) is "professional church".
Church attendance is dying and it's at an all time low in America. But this is a GOOD thing IMO.
God is allowing institutional church and entertainment style church to die out so the real organic church that's underground, to come to the forefront.

Actually, God foretold the great falling away, He foretold that they would not endure sound doctrine, He foretold that they would have itching ears... so why is this a surprise? And, why are we depressed over this?
Your first calling is to be in a personal relationship with God... not get all worried cause others are following the false doctrine of extreme grace that promotes lasciviousness.
God says mankind is without excuse, so those that have access to God's Word and His Spirit yet go whoring after the things of this world are certainly without excuse.
The mature believer will cast their care on the Lord about all this and enjoy personal fellowship with the Lord listening for His direction to us personally concerning what He wants us to do personally.
Management of the Body of Christ is Jesus' business so let Him do His thing and let us do our thing and quit being worried or depressed over what others are doing or not doing.

Actually, there is going to be a rapture for those that are overcomers.
Through history, God has always made a way of escape for His faithful.

This has nothing to do with the opposition we experience in our daily lives. It seems the Jesus you serve is kinda small and weak. We should all get our perspective of Jesus from scripture instead of walking by sight.
When speaking of the terrible things that are to come upon the earth (great tribulation), Jesus said:
Luke 21:36
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
We are not appointed unto wrath (1 Thessalonians 5:9), so the rapture is to remove the faithful from this earth before the great and terrible day of the Lord... which is when He is going to pour out His wrath upon the earth to punish sinners.
2 Peter 3:3,4
Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
The reason Israel was destroyed was... they rejected Jesus and thus rejected the New Covenant God told them He was going to make with them
Hebrews 8:9
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
Eventually, the United States is going to be judged since we have always been a Christian nation but it's getting to the point that if God does not judge this nation for it's wickedness, He is going to owe sodom and gomorrah an apology.
God's faithful will be removed before this nation crashes and burns and a large percentage of this nation's population is destroyed in death. God is not mocked, whatsoever we sow is what we shall reap (Gal 6:7,8)

It is for over comers... those that are walking sincerely with the Lord having turned their back on the old lifestyle and being separated from this world being led by the Spirit of the Lord Jesus unto personal relationship with the Father.
