So you assume it's only for people to get cash for the offering?

Well...your paying musicians aside, why would it be necessary?

    1 Cor. 16--
Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: 2 On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.

The teaching I've heard over the years is that you are to have your offering/tithe already set aside...now if the pastor wants additional offerings for other things, I can see where an ATM **could** come in handy..but like I said I would not care to see one in the church

Churches should pay taxes like a normal business and tell the government to butt out!

I just liked the convenience of it. It's not a big deal to me. I was at a large convention (held at a convention center) recently and they had a hotdog stand and they took cash only. I was glad they had an ATM machine because I had no time to go anywhere else.

We don't have a full on ATM that spits out cash, but we do have just a card swipe thingy like you'd use in a store if people want to give that way instead of cash or cheques. Lots of people use it.

We've had LOTS of young families. People hardly write cheques anymore! AND I know of some who put their giving on their credit cards to collect the point rewards toward travel and airfare, etc.
