Pastor Says He Will Host 'Woodstock'-Like Easter Service in Protest of 'Stay at Home' Orders

A pastor in Pennsylvania says he is planning an outdoor "Woodstock"-like Easter service to protest stay-at-home orders issued amid the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Fox News, evangelist Jonathan Shuttlesworth says he will have an "outdoor Easter blowout service."

"I'm gonna announce it. ... We're gonna hold an outdoor Easter blowout service. Not online. A national gathering. You come from all over, like Woodstock. And we're gonna gather and lift up Jesus Christ," he said.

Shuttlesworth's announcement comes just days after a Florida pastor was arrested for holding in-person Sunday services. He was accused to violating quarantine orders by holding the service at his River at Tampa Bay Church.

"I'm not ashamed that Dr. Rodney (Howard-Browne) got arrested," Shuttlesworth said. "I'm ashamed that when they wanted to arrest preachers for having church, in an entire state, there was only one to come for."

Shuttlesworth posted about Howard-Browne's arrest on Twitter as well.

"Pastor arrested for having a church service in his own building on Sunday, just like 1938 Germany... and just like 1938 Germany, other pastors say nothing, or applaud the arrest!," Shuttlesworth wrote on Twitter.

He also live-streamed a broadcast he called, "The Rodney Howard-Browne Tribute Special."

Shuttlesworth also made headlines in early March for calling European churches who closed their doors because of the outbreak a "bunch of sissies."

"Shame on every European full gospel church, bunch of sissies, that shut down during this thing," he said.

"Catholic Church not having holy water in the lobby — how holy is the water then?" he said. "That should be a sign to you that your whole religion's a fraud. Any faith that doesn't work in real life is a fake faith. Totally fake."

He also said using hand sanitizer was for a "bunch of pansies."

"If you're putting out pamphlets and telling everybody to use Purell before they come into the sanctuary and don't greet anyone, you should just turn in your ministry credentials and burn your church down — turn it into a casino or something," he said. "You're a loser. Bunch of pansies... Got neutered somewhere along the line and don't even realize it."

Sounds like something Paul would say...ashamed there was only one with courage to stand...

I read a book, started actually, years ago. I burned it when I read their take of the martyres of the early church. The author said it was their fault bacause they did not handle their public narrative well in failing to convince Rome they were not political.... That should prompt a serious WOW from every true Christ follower.

We should hear the echo of that victimizing the victim in so many statements we see on social media. Because the fact is Rome was not attacking for political reasons...they were of the kingdom of Satan and they were determined to put out the light!

I am certain SATAN cringes in horror and fear every Sunday! Not because of the harm the gatherings are doing but for the harm he knows they CAN do.

IMHO prayer warriors should be gathering...somewhere and doing serious intercessions and spiritual warfare...not isolating...

I would think that an outdoor service, with participants honoring the six-feet spacing
recommendation, would be relatively safe, given that any germs in the air will be
more rapidly dispersed compared to an enclosed indoor situation.

I would pray for a strong wind on that day!

I trust Jesus word when he says, that when 2 or 3 are together, he is with them.
I also believe that we should care for the weeker= more vulnerable brothers and sisters and do what it needs to keep them from getting sick.
Blamimg others for being sissies and pansies does not sound loving and caring to me.

If his motive is primarily political I believe that is the wrong motive. That was the point I did not make in my first post....At one point Jesus departed out of the city because it was not time for the escalation of Satan....later when it was time the Holy Spirit sent Him into the city....anything we do for any motive other than Spirit led is carnal...even if it is religious.

Now his may BE...just saying we should be sure.

I hear ya, Sis, but I'm a Prayer Warrior, and I've been interceding with a number of groups online and over the phone for weeks now.

However, we've also been following the directives from the President and our respective Governors, and we've been "socially distancing" ourselves and "staying home" in order to reduce and/or stop the spread of the *Coronavirus*

Our belief is that we don't have to be "gathered in groups" physically for God to hear and answer our prayers.

I've been on more online prayer meetings in the last 3 weeks than I've ever attended and they're still popping up... some are 3-4 ppl and some are in the thousands.... if anything, Christians ARE mobilizing... Our pastors are astounded by the numbers people are reporting about how many are tuning in for online Sunday services... last night on our Wed night connection online, our pastor said that one of the most googled things these days is prayer and how to pray... Things are happening. Satan is trying to isolate and shut Christians up, but it's not working.

I think that is incredibly irresponsible.
When people start showing sick, whether or not it's from this contact, it will be attributed to this contact.

    it makes believers look foolish.

    I'll go with Martin Luther

Martin Luther Had Some Great Advice For Dealing With The Coronavirus 500 Years Ago – 90.9 KCBI FM

"I shall ask God mercifully to protect us. Then I shall fumigate, help purify the air, administer medicine and take it. I shall avoid places and persons where my presence is not needed in order not to become contaminated and thus perchance inflict and pollute others and so cause their death as a result of my negligence. If God should wish to take me, he will surely find me and I have done what he has expected of me and so I am not responsible for either my own death or the death of others. If my neighbor needs me however I shall not avoid place or person but will go freely as stated above. See this is such a God-fearing faith because it is neither brash nor foolhardy and does not tempt God."
