Faith is the key to power, not holiness.
As if great faith can be grasped without yielding to God, consecrating oneself to service and seeking sanctification so that Christ might find more room to live more fully in and through one.

Those people who still had great faith after a lot of personal falls didn't find that faith to begin with in a state of living in and pursuing ungodliness. That kind of faith might be maintained by God's mercy but that is something different.

Of course we can walk in the power of God without being perfect or even without having progressed in sanctification at all. All it takes is making a decision to serve God from the heart, in obedience and in the Holy Spirit. That doesn't mean that there isn't more power to be found. If there isn't then show me the hospitals that you keep empty. In the meantime we may pursue more faith, including to have mulberry trees plant themselves in the sea. The question then is "how are you going to succeed with finding that".

The craziest example of God's power resting on someone in the Old Testament is Jephthah. The Bible says that the Spirit came upon Jephthah and then he swore that he would sacrifice a random member of his household if he succeeded with the war that the Spirit was driving him to wage.

The craziest thing that I can imagine would be to employ that as an example of normal ministry under the new covenant. God can do whatever in his mercy and in the Old Testament he had to do that because none of them were even born again. God will however do far more if he can find vessels that are truly yielded and he can find that under the new covenant.
