It is hard for christians to suffer from depression. So many believers say that it is because sin, the lack of faith, etc and give advice in that direction
It takes a lot of courage in a church to admit that you have a depression.
Nowadays treatement is getting "easier", but is not always working.
A good girlfriend of mine is suffering strongly from depression since months. It hurts my heart. We all in our church are praying and hoping for help and healing.
Try vitamin D. It's the sunshine vitamin. Not too much though, the D3 400 mg is a good "booster".

I think a lot of depression along with other maladies revolves around simple things that have been removed from our food sources (perhaps intentionally). The people who manipulate the crops are the same people who sell the meds.

Keep in mind that D3 is measured in IUs, rather than mg. I found this online and haven't done the math:

One IU of vitamin D is the biological equivalent of 25 ng (nanograms) of cholecalciferol or ergocalciferol; therefore 5000 IU of Vitamin D is equivalent to 125 mcg (or 0.125 mg) of either of those compounds.

Note that this is specific to vitamin D, for example 1 IU of vitamin C is 50 mcg of L-ascorbic acid, so 5000 IU of vitamin C would be 250 mg.

One Dr, who owns a huge food formulation company, who I heard speak numerous times said most North Americans, and I suppose it would apply to anyone who lives north enough to have a lack of sun in the winter (especially Canadians), needs a minimum of 10-12,000 IUs of Vit D3 daily. Not sure how that translates into mg.

And now, I'm reading we need K2 and magnesium with that to absorb properly.

I'm hoping I got all that right from memory....

(Sorry to take the thread off topic. This tragedy breaks my heart and his children are going to struggle with this for the rest of their lives if the mom doesn't use wisdom in leading them through healing of the trauma.)

Be much with Jesus. Smile, happiness is a choice. Take a one tank road trip somewhere you havent been. Enjoy a hike in the woods. My list of escapes and recoup are longer than this and have kept me in marriage and ministry for 37 years. Whether I am ok or not is still debateable.

My doctor told me I was low on Vitamin D which surprised me since I live in a sunny state. He told me that some people, no matter if they had 365 days of sunshine, cannot absorb Vit. D naturally, so a supplement is a must.

Vit D is no cure for depression.

The Bible gives us preventative medicine for depression. People just need to follow it rather than dwelling on the things that cause anxiety. It's starts out small enough, but can grow into a monster as in this situation.

I never heard it helps with depression. My doctor never mentioned that. I take it boost my immune system. I think it has helped in that regard.

Depression is anger turned inward. Forgiveness is the preventative the bible speaks of. Everybody has a blue monday now and then, few of us are truly even keeled, yet if we choose to kick aside ornery, grumpy attitudes by listening to what our body is telling us, we wont stay that way. If those chemicals the brain produces that keep us contented are depleted for too long, you can slide into clinical depression. It all starts with getting outside the biblical construct of forgiveness, body health and rest...too many wont or cant rest.

    I suffered depression for YEARS.

Turned out I needed deliverance. I spent years turning over every rock I could find, forgiving people and asking God's forgiveness, but until I was delivered of spirits of guilt and condemnation that gained entrance after my abortion @16, even as a Christian I suffered. Once those filthy spirits were gone, I have never had depression again...Low days, but nothing like before. It's now been 20 years of freedom from that darkness.

There's more to getting people free from depression.

We cannot simply tell people to read the word, pray and take a walk in the woods and take supplements.
