Marvelous Testimonies Manifesting as Heaven Comes to Texas Revival

We have seen an unusual move of God here at New Life Church in Corpus Christi, Texas.

We started out just planning on meeting four consecutive Wednesday nights in July, beginning July 11.

It was obvious from the start that God was up to something. The first Wednesday, we had over people 100 respond to an altar call for repentance and salvation. The second Wednesday, another 100-plus people came forward.

Due to the responses, we planned a baptism Wednesday, Aug. 8. That night, we had 10 baptisms. We then added three additional Wednesday nights. The following Wednesday, we didn't have any scheduled baptisms but saw 200 people respond—many actually running to the altar. We baptized 31 people that night! So far, more than 120 people have been baptized in the last two weeks. Last year, we only saw 238 baptisms.

The revival first started when senior pastor Mike Fehlauer developed a deep hunger to see more of God's presence as a response to the post-Christian society.

While the church normally holds a midweek service only the first Wednesday of each month, Fehlauer felt the Lord tell him that if we wanted more of God, we needed to give Him more, we needed to give Him the room to move. So we added each Wednesday night service to our calendar during the month of July.

It wasn't enough. We soon added Thursday and Friday night services.

Part of the revival involves Communion. We have several stations throughout the worship center and during worship people, on their own, are coming to the Communion tables and worshipping through Communion as a family, friends and so on.

Each service is livestreamed on Facebook. As a result, we're beginning to see other church leaders from our community come to the revival and tune in via livestream.

One of our members—completely unaware the staff has been praying for an awakening to take place—had an open vision of what we are now beginning to see.

Wait, churches still have altar calls for repentance and salvation? What a novel idea!

And baptism in water, just not straight away. Reminds me of the first time the gospel was preached, in Acts 2. Here's the first time that salvation is mentioned :

Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass
That whoever calls on the name of the Lord
    Shall be saved.’

Peter goes on to explain how that verse from Joel ties into the message about Jesus and concludes :

2:36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

So since Jesus has been made Lord, therefore they must call on his name to be saved.

Then his audience wants to know what they should do, apart from calling upon the name of the Lord Jesus, as he just talked about :

2:37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”
38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

They didn't do that straight away though :

40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.”

Which suggests that his preaching went on for some time.

41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.

Then in the end they were baptized. But when did they call upon the name of the Lord Jesus as Peter had instructed them to do at the beginning of his sermon ? Who knows, maybe some did straight away, maybe some did after hearing him out, maybe some did as they were baptized in water. Their baptism became a public testimony of their faith though.

Next thing you know, they'll be holding Sunday night services, too.

With this outpouring and the one in Georgia, I’m getting expectant again.
