I’ll probably get in trouble for saying this, but I think the theatrics come from the charismatic side. I’m guessing it was copied from Kathryn Khulman? Amie McPhearson was a bit eccentric too, but she was sort of a castaway to many people in her era for being in a double marriage that was under question.
The Pentecostals have their issues too. A lot of people viewed them as overly emotional. They have tried to shed the image of being uneducated and ignorant to the point of many of their churches becoming very Baptist like.

Humans have the worse time trying to find a balance .

Have you found that some of the Pentecostal churches have removed/changed the title of their churches to not appear so "holy roller" (no disrespect intended), so instead of "Antioch Penecostal/Apostolic/UPC/Church of God in Christ"--it's just "Antioch Church" (made up example)? Baptists have done the same in some places too.

Absolutely yes. They call them “undercover Pentecostals”. It seems a little deceptive in a way. A lot of progressive pastors even require that all speaking in tongues only be done in private or in a side room. Never in the main service setting. Personally, I wonder if they have an inferiority complex.

I see this in the A/G with Crestwood, Bridgewood, Something-Pointe, etc etc. They want the trendy name but in 10-5yrs they will need to change it again.

Yup. Outreach (I guess) to the Millennials.

I don't tolerate theatrics or "pulpit stories", either one. (embellishments).
