So true. We are very small right now, just a few faithful saints. We are still staying open because God planted us where we are, and has not told me that we are done yet. Our elders keep encouraging us to just stay the course and God will send those He wants here.
Much of today's church in America just want to sit in a comfortable chair for an hour or two every Sunday and get their ears tickled and feel good about themselves. They won't put up with being reminded that Jesus has given us a mission to actually go after the lost. Discipleship is a dirty word.
I just preached on the letters to the 7 churches again this past Sunday, and looked at all the indictments that Jesus made against them as a warning to us today. We cannot afford to leave our first love, and we definitely cannot allow false teachers to seduce and teach our congregations to sin.

Amen. Hold steady, brother.

Actually it was neither one of them. I'll see if I can think if the guy's name. I think he was in TX or somewhere like that. His name is on the top of my tongue.
Edit: Ed Young.

Sounds like something Juanita Bynum’s ex=husband would do. He had a “Newlywed Game” style game in His Church; he acted as the emcee asking the married couples questions that were IMHO risqué. It was quite embarrassing to say the least.

Yeah, I used to tune in to him once in a while. The bed thing, he had 2 beds on stage, a big one and a little one. He used them to teach about how much greater sex is if it is in the marriage bed. Anything else was represented by the little bed-fornication, adultery, etc.

His little “sexperiment” series was the last I ever tuned in. Make no mistake, I wasnt much of a fan of his from the start. We discussed his “marriage bed” series here about 10 years ago. Young was the then Steven Furtick.

Yeah, his "Hipster" style was popular with his congregation, but I think that is what seems to open up the doors to kookiness and heresy. I think his father was a pastor too.
