    R. C. Sproul, Reformed Theologian, dies at 78

-When Reformed theologian and Ligonier Ministries founder R. C. Sproul was once asked what he wanted written on his tombstone, he replied cheekily, “I told you I was sick.”

That was in 2015, after the esteemed teacher and author’s health declined severely following a stroke. This December, the 78-year-old was hospitalized and was forced to rely on ventilator support to breathe during his 12-day stay, due to complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He died on Thursday.

“His tombstone wouldn’t be able to hold the words of what he’s meant to so many,” tweeted Kansas pastor Gabriel Hughes. “Well done, good and faithful servant. Now great is your reward.”

Sproul’s legacy lives on in generations of laypeople and Reformed leaders whose theology was strengthened and shaped by Ligonier, the organization he founded in 1971...

I listen to Dr RC Sproul frequently, but adamantly reject and oppose most of his theology.

So what's the point of listening to him then? lol.

I have many tapes by him. I liked his tapes on Church History. Excellent.

I used to listen to him when I listened to radio Bible teaching.

In discussion/debate with Calvinists, they often say "you don't understand Calvinism," ... and I can say I heard Dr RC Sproul say ....

He is the expert, ... "heavyweight" regarding Reformed Theology, and they all look up to him. He does have some good and helpful things to say in regard to church history.

Took the words right out of my mouth. LOL

“Take heed what he hear.” Guard your ear and eye gate. Listening to or reading twisted doctrine for long periods will cause the believer to depart from the faith. I recall brother Hagin telling the story about a minister friend of his that had quite a large library in his home.

Brother Hagin observed there were certain books that were demonically inspired with just enough truth in them to keep the believer reading. The friend told brother Hagin that he regretted reading those books because he now has a difficult time walking in faith.
When your praise match your prayers, the answer will come.

I remember going through some teaching tapes from RC Sproul on some general bible topic. I got a lot out of it and he has pretty good depth and articulation. HOWEVER, I note he was firmly set against Pente/Charismatics along with his buddy Johnny Mac. Something about "spitting out the bones" here...

I still listen to him almost every morning. He's a very good teacher.
