Some Christians Hate Joel Osteen More Than They Love the Truth—and That's Wrong

I didn't want this to get lost in the other thread about Joel, but I mentioned in reference to his video explaining it that the comments were full of hatred even though he explained it, and I'm sure many considered themselves Christians. I just ran across this on Charisma.

But, seriously, the floodgates of media unleashed against Joel Osteen, based on an unclear church statement and fanned by agenda-driven social media, tells me that we have a cultural problem. The fact that many Christians have joined in shows me it is a Christian problem. It's wrong in both cases, but disturbing to see some Christians joining in.

It seems some Christians hate Joel Osteen more than they love the truth. I'd expect that from the world, but I hoped for better in the church...

The saddest part of this whole story to me is that Christians were many who spoke out against Osteen and Lakewood before they had even part of the details. It's just sickening to me the way Christians bash other Christians in public and on social media. The Pharisees criticized Jesus and discounted everything He did and said.
There are plenty of people I don't agree with theologically but I don't bash their Christianity on Facebook. Christians need to stop this! Its a huge turnoff to the world and Christians who have walked away from the Lord.

IMHO rushing to judgement is a COMMON Christian problem, not one that is unusual or new...it's just that we often have no problem justifying it...and we follow judgement with condemnation....the mote and the beam is a real problem we all have but don't always admit much less deal with...
To me this kind of response we witnessed reveals a PREJUDGEMENT...this event just fueled that judgement with something like, 'See, I told you so...'
