What you posted confirms what some of us thought...that there were possibly underlying issues to why he stabbed his wife. It wasn't just a simple case of taking too much cough medicine.

There seems to be evidence of darkness behind the scenes....did this stabbing occur 'out of nowhere'.

Would the cough medicine make him kill his wife if he didn't have this strange altar ego?????

Blaming the cough medicine is like blaming someone with a gun who shoots people. Did the gun kill or did the darkness in the persons heart only use the gun.

Especially as a believer I find it hard to accept that God would not intervene unless a person was feeding a secret.
God has stepped in to stop many terrible potential disasters and one has to ask why he didn't in this case.

Did his wife know about his altar ego - did he hide it from her?

More details need to come out so a clearer picture is established

If a christian man stabbed his wife after abusing alcohol would we be blaming him or the alcohol - isn't he still responsible?

This may have no significance but from another article he was previously divorced and he was only 28. Why as a believer was he divorced so young?
Maybe it was his first wife's total fault but it would be interesting if the police followed up his first marriage.

I was just reading an article about some Instagram posts he made which could go either way. Was he planning them as a defense to killing his wife or was there a long standing history of him having sleep issues which include a history of sleepwalking...dunno.

That's a weak argument Cardinal. God doesn't always intervene in situations just because His children are involved. There could be many reasons why God didn't stop this from happening.

That's why it's best to wait until all of the facts are in before judging the motives. It could be that the Lord gave the wife several warnings and she didnt take heed; it's been known to happen. There could be any number of issues involved.

You've made up your mind, so even if it turns out "the cough syrup made him do it," you wont believe it.
When your praise match your prayers, the answer will come.

    More to the story...

Man accused of 'cough medicine' killing was fascinated with 'American Psycho,' police say

A man who told police that he thought he killed his wife after taking cold medicine was fascinated with the horror film "American Psycho" and talked to a friend about what it would be like to kill someone, according to search warrants.

Matthew Phelps, a 29-year-old Bible college graduate, called 911 just after 1:10 a.m. Sept. 1. He said his wife of less than a year, Lauren Hugelmaier Phelps, had been stabbed. He then told police that he had taken Coricidin and awoke to find his wife dead and a knife on the bed in their home on Patuxent Drive in North Raleigh.

Police charged Phelps with first-degree murder in the case, which has gained national attention with experts weighing in on the potential side effects of cold medicine and cough syrup....

..."It was learned that Matthew Phelps was obsessed with the movie 'American Psycho' and this Instagram account shows numerous photographs of scenes from the movie and Phelps dressed as the main character," the detective wrote. "The movie is about a serial killer, and Phelps expressed interest to a friend regarding what it would be like to kill someone."...

...Friends told investigators that the couple "would argue frequently" and had been disagreeing about finances, according to police....

...Investigators also learned that Lauren Phelps was "preparing to end the relationship.".....

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity (futility) of their mind, having the understanding darkened...
    (Ephesians 4:17-18)

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly...
    (Psalm 1)
