That seems to be the root of a lot if not most of stupid things pastors and churches do.

He's the kind that would invite Jay-Z or Kanye in the pulpit to speak and perhaps perform.
When your praise match your prayers, the answer will come.

Yes, trying to appeal to Gen-Xers using worldly tools. I have no problem ministering to young people, because I rely on the Holy Spirit. If He's not leading me, I won't say anything.

However, Spirit-filled pastors have the anointing to speak to our youth, but I think many of them don't trust that He will show them how. The Holy Spirit knows exactly how to reach the young, if only these pastors will allow themselves to be used by Him, they'd have great success.

There were thousands if not hundreds of thousands young people save in the Brownsville revival. Adults too. Some of the most amazing testimonies of salvation and deliverance I have ever heard. Even amazing stories of how people were led to the revival that didn't know anything about it. Hundreds of people running to the altar every night. The preacher, Steve Hill most nights preached a very hard sermon on sin. The abiding presence of the Holy Spirit in the meetings was like I've never witnessed in any other church. That was their 'relevance'. Go figure.

Exactly! No gadgets, decorative stage props, or secularized worship songs will ever replace the power of the Holy Spirit to bring people to Christ.

I know many of them are on the mission field. That's why the school was started to disciple them and focus on missions. Who knows what happened to the majority. I'm sure many are still serving God, many backslid, etc. Same as any other revival.

Some that have studied revivals feel that it often gets too emotional/sensational and burns out and they would rather have steady growth. No surveys in churches with questions like "were you saved/returned during the Brownesville revival?"

That can happen with revivals but the same thing can occur with large churches that have grown over 20 years and at the end many are lukewarm believers sleeping in church
