Thread: How Denominations Form !

It is fascinating to watch two denominations form in my lifetime. They are the Vineyard and Word Of Faith. Both would issue protests that they are more of a fellowship than a denomination but you can be the judge of that. Both started as cutting edge break away movements dissatisfied with the status quo of other Pentecostals. Both had strong leaders at the helm during the beginning phase of their explosive growth. During the next several years and phases of growth, organizations were formed and reformed to manage the business of a growing church movement. Now both denominations have their centralized leadership at headquarters with section leaders (bishops) at the state and local level. Both have annual conventions where the Pastors go for fellowship and input from others in the denomination. Most hold to the original leader's teachings with little variations. Some have completely left the original leaders teachings or have severely modified them over the years. Is will be interesting to study today's movements to see the denominations of tomorrow formed ?
