Thread: When should we leave a church ?

When should we leave a church ?

I have left several churches over the years. One time I left before I should have. I was told by God what I was doing there but my flesh just could not stand it and I left. The Pastor left a little while after I did. Sometimes I left to save my spiritual life. I would say that EVERY time except that once I was in the will of God leaving. One time as I was leaving the Lord told me the church would close. That church did close. I was sad because I loved the Pastors. Sometimes you have to save yourself like Noah. Some will criticize you and call you a church hopper but so what. Pastors are human beings and can miss it like any other person. Don't idolize any Pastor but respect them and honor them while you are there serving. If you cannot be in agreement with his vision you should leave before offenses drive you out !

The time that God told me the church was closing was strange. I was having coffee and donuts after the service where we just had resigned membership and people were giving us hugs and well wishes. But that whole time this was happening I was having an open vision over-layed upon the natural scene. This was a different picture of a graveyard and I was walking through it. Then the vision came to a climax with an older type of crypt/coffin lid slamming down closing. This shook me a little bit and I talked the stunning vision over with my wife as we were driving home. I told her that that vision might mean the church is closing? The Pastor called me 10 months later with that very news. I was sad because I really liked this Pastor.

The days where believers stay in one church most of their life is gone.

If people would just listen to God they would leave bad churches. Then shysters like Steve Mussy would have to shut down their mega-churches.

I feel for the young believers who don't know any different but many mature ones don't want to leave certain churches because they agree with the teaching even when its skewed

Some Pastors are better at witchcraft than actual witches. They have a demonic insight into how to manipulate people into doing what they want. God help them !God had to show me what this one Pastor was doing-beating his wife and children- before I could leave. When I had visions of this I was sad and shocked but after I left it blew up ! He was a violent man.

God reserves the harshest judgement for hypocritical leaders. That pastor will end up in hell if he does not genuinely repent. Yep I said it it....he will end up in hell
God does not care one iota whether someone once said the sinners prayer and believes in Jesus. God has no scriptural obligation to allow wilful practicing hypocrites into heaven

Most Christians do not understand that many believers are dangling on the precipice of eternal hell and the church gives them false hope

There is NO FEAR of GOD if you willfully live like the devil and still go to heaven because you believe. The fear of God applies because God will reject even believers who have disgraced his name and have not sincerely repented even after giving them decades of time to repent

This does not apply to baby Christians or sincere believers who admit they are struggling and are genuine in their desire to be free but need grace, love and support

I've left churches more than some I know, sad to say...partly due to immaturity (offense), partly due to some funky business going on. Offense almost caused me to leave my current one. But there are right and wrong reasons/ways to leave a church. I want to be on the side of right (God's leading) when/if I leave...

Many times the beginning of attending of a church can be so supernatural, i.e., the way God led you there, etc, that when it comes time to leave, one looks for the same thing and it doesn't come, so people tend to stay too long.
