You've got a lot of VIP ministers over there that see themselves in terms of OT prophets, the pinnacle of might and power in their eyes. They have little understanding of NT ministry. They may be the most "old wineskin" of all, whether they are 15 or 95 years old.

    Question for anyone...

What about people who leave a church when a new pastor comes in and starts "reorganizing", meaning he lets go of leadership from the previous "administration" (pastor) and puts others in those positions? I noticed some things this past Sunday (I had been away for awhile, but been attending the past few weeks), and I started to wonder, "where is so-and so"? I doubt that the pastor told the folks to leave the church entirely, (that's not his personality, he is a sweet guy) but they have. I don't know however if their leaving was amicable or not.

Sorry to say, at least back in the day, there were a lot of WOF pastors like this. You were disrespecting if you didn't call them pastor (when you call me pastor you put a demand on that calling! and it's disrespectful not to call me that!). Many had bad authority/control issues. And they were 'tow the line' pastors. You towed the line, not them. I was even kicked out of a church where I was the associate pastor by the pastor on the spot when I disagreed with him in public at church one time. I mean there wasn't a millisecond between the time my last syllable came out of my mouth and he screamed "GET OUT!!!" to me. And he was a good friend of mine, or so I thought. This man could have had the largest Charismatic church on the southside of Atlanta if not because of how he ran the church he kept running people off intentionally and indirectly because of how he 'ruled'. Heck, one time one of the staff didn't show up for church and he went to their house to find out why they weren't at church while the service was supposed to be starting. Sad to say this wasn't uncommon with WOF pastors back in the day.

This isn't WOF bashing, that's just the way it was with a lot of them. I'm speaking this from personal experience. I knew several like that. And it was pretty common. I hope they're still not that way.

I think it had something to do with his other associate who was a female who just up and quit, and I think he was saying that we shouldn't have any contact with her, etc, and I disagreed with that. And I did it civilly. I was just voicing my opinion in a respectful manner.

This is just my own opinion, but back then a lot of WOF pastors ruled with an iron hand because of how Copeland would talk about how he handled certain situations with employees, etc. Copeland wouldn't take any 'gruff' from anybody and a lot of it had to do with having strife in his ministry which he absolutely wouldn't allow, which I think has some legitimacy. I think the pastors extrapolated how he handles things in a ministry/business into something that wasn't intended into their churches. I mean many many WOF pastors had that same persona back in the day. Remember I was/am WOF and it didn't affect how I believed doctrine wise, but this is really an objective opinion. I have no reason to bash WOF.
