Not only that, but some folks can develop soulish ties to people at a church that makes it hard to leave.

Isn't that why we attend church usually? The people? We can get fed spiritually in any number of ways now, but it's that call to not forsake the assembling together of the saints that is the real reason for attending.

Ideally, yes...
BUT how many people have said (and will swear on fifty Bibles and their mother's grave) "God/Holy Spirit has LED me away/to another church"? the same Holy Spirit that "led" them there in the first place? the HS can and does speak, I completely believe that...I guess what I'm trying to say is, is the voice of the Spirit somewhat subjective to how accurately WE hear Him in the first place? And does it all boil down to how much time we spend with Him (devotional life, time in the Word, prayer according to His word, etc)? It's kinda easy to say "the Holy Spirit said/told me _____"

having attended many churches the worst one was a wof church and the pastor announced he ran the church like a business. If the ministry the church sponsored didn't get so many souls for the dollars spent he'd yank the plug. It was a interesting time...

His reference to him "running the church" says it all. Pastors don't run churches, they serve them. Hirelings "run" the church.

yeah the sad part was i was invited to join his "pastors prayer team" because my wife and i were one of the few that put the most tithes into the church coffers that year. eventually our prestige within the inner circle went south when i mentioned him by his first name in a conversation. one of the elders was standing behind me ease dropping and in his official elders voice said "thats pastor ______ to you!" needless to say we were outcasts shortly there after. i could only hold my tongue and walk away shaking my head...

Hey, that's not too bad. I had a Pastor that looked and acted like mafia don John Gotti. Yes, there were heads busted if he did not get his way !!!!

well i didn't mention that on sunday mornings he would be surrounded by armour bearers complete with dark suits and ear pieces that surrounded him so his anointing would not be disturbed. YES this really happened. I'm sure his bathroom breaks were interesting..... it was not uncommon for a armor bearer to carry his bibles up to the podium along with bottled water...
