I personally only wear a suit if I am preaching a funeral or performing a wedding ceremony. To me suits have come to represent part of what is wrong with much of the church today: DEAD DRY RELIGION. I consider that they are no different than the robes worn by the pharisees and corrupt priests whom Jesus rebuked.
I can relate way easier to TW than I can with a suit wearing preacher. Todd has a heart for God and the lost that many in the suit crowd can't touch.
And if you think about it, the money grubbers on Christian TV are mostly suit-clad spectacles. Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I guess you could say that I have become anti-suit over the years.
I should add however, that if I am speaking at a church where a suit is the norm for the preacher, then I will wear a suit.

I don't think the pastor should dress different from any other Christian.

The Bible talks about the heart being our true beauty rather than the outwardly. Someone who is truly holy can afford to be more spectacular, it is easier to hide behind what is boring or formally correct. But I'm sure even Todd White would wear something more formal at a funeral and perhaps avoid trying to make a nest out of his hair.

That is supposed to mean something but she ends up looking like a man with breasts who is trying to be tough. Funny.

Cultural issues affect most situations. Here in OK, in some circles funeral attire is casual. I went to a service once in a farm town. The father of the deceased was an elderly farmer and he wore bib overalls to the service. Whether or not the minister was wearing a suit would not have been an issue.
The last funeral I went to was held in a church chapel and the woman sitting next to me had on capri pants and flip flops.

Considering we'll be doing baptisms at the beach, that's probably going to be a norm for our church.
