Please say it ain't so! - We sing that song periodically during our time of praise and worship.

Some churches honor Frank Sinatra every Sunday. Since they never pray and seek God's direction they continue to sing, "I did it my waaaaaaaay"

(Will now duck due to the flurry of rotten eggs and tomatoes as a result of another stupid VW joke).

Morton does a little "woo-hoo-hoo" improvising during his version, like Prince did..no big whoop, but various FB posters brought that up as some kind of justification for the church "tributes"..

Around the 2:05 mark you hear Prince do it (this is the Superbowl one, but it's on the original too):

And here is Paui Morton, around the 4:51 mark..

I said a few words about Andrae Crouch upon his death and we sung one of his songs, but the song we sung by him honored Jesus ("To God be the Glory"). While I believe that Prince was a talented man and was saddened by his death, I would NEVER dedicate a church service in honor to him. It is Jesus' church and worldly stuff has no place in it. If anything I would mention Prince or any other po star only in reference to the fact that if you are using your God-given gifts for worldly fame and money then just remember him and others in relation to Jesus' words "....what does it profit a man to gain the world and lose their soul?"

I know some might dispute my last sentence by saying, "You don't whether or not Prince called on God before he died." Yet, I will add, "Why take that chance?"
Andre was worthy of a tribute. His songs were anointed and timeless

The ONLY similarities in those two songs are the word 'rain' and a little "woo-hoo-hoo". Not sure how anyone could say his 'Let It Rain' was based on Purple Rain.

I DIDN'T come to that conclusion... I said this was some folks justification for doing Prince songs in church. Like I said, it's no big whoop to me.
