Thread: T D Jakes and Gay Marriage

  1. #11
I hate to say it but my sympathy for some of these guys just isn't there. When you fail to clearly define your position and you give undying support to politicians that hold to positions that denigrate the Word of God, what else is to be expected from unclear comments? Why don't these folks take a clear stand against unrighteousness instead of being ambiguous and then later hollering about being persecuted if they are misunderstood?

Edited...I hate it when the media does that but I should not be surprised!

Then why did he take the platform with then senator Obama showing staunch political support despite the senator's position on the born alive act and abortion..

Seems he believes in exerting a political voice when it's convenient and then being 'tolerant' when it's not?

However on the evolving position I agree...

Evolved and evolving,” he replied. “I think that where I am is to better understand we, the church, bought into the myth that this is a Christian nation.”
In context it appears his response posted by Krystian is truthful...

While I still think he's full of bologna on the political disclaimer he was responding to a trick question...he should have been on his guard based on who was interviewing him..

The other thing that hit me is the use of the phrase "evolved and evolving". Why use the same language that the president used to change (or Z"claim to change") his views on gay marriage?

When one is ambiguous and use certain undefined statements in an interview I am not sure what they expect. I know what it is like to be misquoted and misunderstood and I have staunchly defended famous pastors in the past for the heresy hunter tactics used against them, but in this age in which gay marriage is a large controversy and is being accepted in the church we need to be clear as to where we stand and not even give the appearance of evil.

All people didn't embrace him either. That's what I said and what I meant .... Nothing more and nothing less.

Just because a so-called Christian publication chooses to misconstrue my words using lazy journalistic tactics to further their own agenda and draw attention to their site does not make their statements an accurate depiction of what I said or meant.

    Investigate.

Do not take everything you read online or hear repeated as truth. When asked about the "black church" and its role in ministering to gay people, I briefly mentioned ( we were running out of time) the word " evolved and evolving" regarding my approach over the 39 years of my ministry to gay people who choose to come to our services.

I simply meant that my method is evolving -- not my message. I was SHOCKED to read that this was manipulated in a subsequent article to say I endorsed same sex marriage! My position on the subject has been steadfast and rooted in scripture.

For the record, I do not endorse same sex marriage but I respect the rights that this country affords those that disagree with me. (Total Nosense)

People Used to have the right to own slaves , currently have the right to abort babies ..I guess he respects those rights simply because the courts now allow for those "rights" ?

Yes You can force beliefs on others through Prayer. It's called Favor ... ...

Per Public Policy Esther did it, Nehemiah did it, Joseph Did It, Daniel Did it Paul did it ... and Yes Jesus did it ...

Missionaries did it all the time in Africa ..putting an end to many ungodly practices by way of winning favor with Key Leadership

The scientific term evolve carries the meaning of adapting to the environment which is very fitting in this context.

Good job of pointing out more weaknesses in these statements from a BIble standpoint.

Men of God are supposed to use BIBLICAL terms so that their stance is clear. Otherwise one should not complain that one is misunderstood if one chooses to be vague - unless, of course, that is one's intention.
