Thread: Greg Laurie shocking cover up allegations

23 men have come forward that grew up in a Romanian orphanage funded by Laurie with allegations of sexual abuse as children by Laurie's missionary pastor from 1998 to 2008. Laurie claims he knew nothing and wasn't aware.

I would have to give Greg Laurie the benefit of the doubt.
He got saved during the Jesus Movement in Southern California during the late 1960's.
Greg was discipled by Chuck Smith. He went into ministry at age 19.
He's been in ministry for 50 years.
This is probably a case of poor discernment on Pastor Laurie's part.
Satan would love to take Greg Laurie apart and destroy his testimony and his ministry.
Greg has wreaked havoc on the devil's kingdom for decades. Even if it is true that this evil man did what he did, he must have fooled and deceived pastor Laurie without any of his knowledge of what was happening behind the scenes. There is just no way I could ever believe Greg knew what was going on and purposely let it continue.

Something as tragic as this being perpetrated on people by evil scum such as the man in the report seems to occur regularly in foreign countries.
This thing has put Greg Laurie in a negative public spotlight in which he has been forced to defend himself. Any accusations that try and accuse Pastor Laurie of any wrongdoing, and that he was involved in a coverup has no merit, is false, and fueled by lies. It's just unfortunate that the man has to go through this. The devil loves to spread lies about a genuine man of God as satan is trying to tarnish Greg's integrity, church, and ministry, through this whole ungodly mess.

Updated orphanage scandal released today (12-4) by The Roys Report.
12 men are suing Harvest church because of sexual abuse they claim they suffered from a Harvest pastor who was in charge of a Romanian orphanage in the late 1990's to the early 2000's.
There are also 11 other men who have come forward and are expected to also sue the church because of similar claims they experienced at the orphanage. That will bring the total to 23.
Harvest church was instrumental in founding the Romanian orphanage with little oversight and accountability to its operation when it opened on the foreign field.
Then Harvest pastor, Paul Havsgaard was put in the leadership role of operating the orphanage of whom the men mentioned in the lawsuits say they were abused by Havsgaard when they were children during their stay at the overseas ministry. Harvest has not said when Pastor Greg Laurie learned of the allegations against Havsgaard.
But 5 years after a ministerial investigation was completed at the Romanian ministry, Greg Laurie still seemed to be uninformed of what went on there up until 2003 and beyond. It seems odd that nothing is mentioned that the orphanage report handled by associate pastors was not given to pastor Laurie when it was completed for his personal inspection.
Instead, 5 years later (after the report had been completed); In 2009, Greg Laurie publicly praised Paul Havsgaard as " a pastor who faithfully served the Lord" and an example of the impact "that just one godly person can have.

Something about this whole scandal involving Greg Laurie and Harvest Fellowship just doesn't seem to add up. Lots of missing pieces that are left blank. Hopefully, the full truth will come out when this litigation goes to the courtroom. If the men, who when they were young boys is proven to have occurred at the Romanian orphanage, they deserve to be compensated accordingly.

I agree, Greg Laurie has had a successful multiple decades of pastoral ministry and evangelism crusades. The Lord has used Greg to advance the kingdom of God and see souls saved for a long time.
His integrity has been impeccable, and Greg has always sought transparency within ministry standards.
That is until he was blind-sided by a harvest pastor on staff, named Paul Havsgaard. The abuse scandal that occurred (if proved) at the Romanian orphanage and Havsgaard's involvement is shocking.
There are still a lot of questions that need to be answered, as some of the pieces to this unfortunate immoral scandal of a puzzle, have fallen onto the floor. I said it before and I'll say it again, I don't believe Greg Laurie was internally involved with anything that happened at the Romanian orphanage. Although, apparently, Greg did not see nor read the report that the ministerial Harvest associate pastors wrote in their investigation regarding Havsgaard and the orphanage, it supposedly did not pass over Pastor Laurie's desk at the time it was completed. Like you, I'm dumbfounded as to why and how the report was able to escape pastor Laurie's attention.
This scandal and the lawsuit filed by the (supposedly victims) may have sealed Pastor Greg Laurie's ministry to ruin. Even if he is proven innocent of any sin committed or involvement in the Romanian scandal.
The central point that ties Greg into this is Harvest Fellowship funded and started the orphanage, and one of his pastors was put into the leadership role to operate it.
The whole thing that happened at that orphanage under Havsgaard's watch is going to a courtroom and Greg Laurie will likely have to take the stand under oath, along with Paul Havsgaard, and face the men who are no longer kids in litigation.
I don't have any opinions or speculation what will happen when that day arrives. What's that old saying, "It will all come out in the wash". Or we can say, "God will expose the truth of what really went on there". Until then ?????????
