I really do mean this in all seriousness. There is an amazing thing that happens to a Body when it is in agreement and it is a very different dynamic (I know you know this). Don't get me wrong....I completely understand the private prayer thing too. But there is a neat thing that happens when all of the Body is in unity and agreement. That's why Burn services are so vitally important, imo. Add the dimension of music, and it's a whole other level.

When Mahesh and Bonnie Chavda started the Watch in the 90s, and started corporate prayer every Friday from 10 pm to 6 am, they would worship from 10-3 or 4, and then pray. It was awesome. Then, Bickle comes along and it just goes into a different thing as well.

IMO, this is where the Church should have been all along. It's where it started at the birth of the Church age, and it's where it should be going now. I think John is spot on.
I agree...several years ago I taught my class on prayer and mentioned starting a corporate prayer meeting and was told, 'corporate prayer is not needful'. And these were folks I KNOW used to meet and pray for hours on end...and God moved.

Personally, I just don't think people "get it".....and I don't think people see the need for it (corporate prayer). Yet.
What I wanted as specific is why anyone would actually pray against a house of prayer, especially one they didn't go to. Specifically why. Doesn't even make sense.

Well, the thing about corporate prayer is that it ignites unity amongst the brethren. When there is agreement on issues, again....that brings a unique element to a Body. When there is active corporate prayer, people have a corporate vision and it's not "all about me". That is why I believe IHOP is so amazing. They have intercession sets where they pray for people being sex trafficked, and they pray for the traffickers as well. They have intercession sets where they pray for their city, it's politicians, it's leaders, etc.....

Again, it's a different dynamic that fosters unity, whole heartedness, focus, etc.....that just praying by yourself doesn't have.

At our local Fellowship, we have 3 hours of live prayer and worship/music during our healing rooms. So while people are waiting to be called to be prayed for, they can linger in the worship and intercession. This is every Monday. Quarterly we have 6 hour burns, though we have had 24 hour burns as well.

If this isn't the culture of your Fellowship, you probably don't get it or understand how precious and vital it is, but again.....this is "normal" worldwide. I'm sure people who have watched all of Darren Wilson's videos recall the underground Church in China gathering 1000 people outside in the middle of nowhere to seek God for hours. This really_is_normal_Christianity. Don't know what else to say about it.

Believe me.....you cannot fathom the type of attacks any house of prayer endures. It's astonishing. There is a segment of the Body that says that IHOP is engaging in "works" by pressing into prayer, and that it's not necessary. So there's that.....

Some of my best encounters with God where in a corporate prayer setting

When you got saved did the church have dynamic corporate prayer meetings...when I was saved I was exposed to this sort of prayer and it helped develop me as a believer

Yep. Every Tuesday night. And I usually went. Still doesn't mean it was my thing :)

As a matter of fact, before revival, Pastor Kilpatrick replaced the Sunday night service with prayer and intercession for revival. The whole church basically got on board. That was a couple of years before it hit. Once revival started they switched it to Tuesday.
